I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over CIES rankings. There's genuinely no bias in them, it's just their methodology can whip up some interesting results.


From 2017-2019 Otamendi was the highest rated defender in the world by their measures. Sometimes the outright no1 player.

Huge investment and that's not including players on the bench/injured and ones now gone they spunked money on like Lakaku and Sanchez ( in signing on fee and wages.) I've no problem with them or any club spending money but we're the only club it's ever used against in a negative context, when in fact for ourselves it's been highly successful in winning trophies. Putting it in here as can’t see the VAR thread, did it get thrown away with the agenda thread maybe?
I genuinely would like to think that football wasn’t bent, that we get the same refereeing and VAR standards as united get, but I just can’t see it, based on:-

1. The pens they get for and against v the pens we get for and against. We attack more, have more possession, yet the disparity in the for and against is mathematically incredible

2. Nearly every time they have a pen claim there is both a var review and a tv review, every angle is looked at, and it seems any opportunity is used to give them a pen

3. Very often when we have a pen claim, and another example last night, there doesn’t appear to be any VAR review, and the tv companies don’t review either

Is all of this just a continuous coincidence?
Is it deliberate or subliminal favouritism?
Are the officials really bent?

Part of me thinks surely football is fair and uncorrupt? Surely if the officials were told to give favourable officials one of them would have whistle blown, so to speak?”, by now?

But the number of pens they get, the number we don’t get, the way our pens not given don’t seem to be VAR’d or even tv replayed, it can’t be coincidence?

Does anyone credible really think football isn’t bent and if so what do you base it on?
