So what you object to is not their coverage of City, which is no better and no worse that that of the mail, the Express or the Sun, but it’s political affiliation?
There is a spectrum but the Guardian is at the extreme end of it by virtue of their brand of methodist politics. There are some things that are incompatible. To use your words, their political affiliation drives their current stance against 'Emirati' Manchester City whereas for most of the rest, their position is pragmatic.

So a position based on a principle you disagree with is, in your view, worse than a position based on racism?

Decent read, which is quite surprising bearing in mind it has been written by Jackson.

The comparison to Ferguson is utterly ridiculous. Ferguson stayed at a very rich club for a very long time, a club much richer than its rivals, he won a lot of trophies.

But no one talks about his mode of football today, no one tries to emulate the style of 1999 and not just because football has moved on.

He was not an innovator he was a mechanic, constructing a well oiled machine over many years, he won a lot of stuff, then he fucked off and left little behind, beyond screwing the club he purportedly loved. No one studies his tactics today, he brought nothing new to the game and he left nothing behind.

With the exception of a few sycophants in the media he's been mostly forgotten.

15 years ago our manager was Stuart Pearce. Scoring a goal would have had people on their feet, gasping and applauding.

30 years ago we were applauding any goalkeeper that could clear from a back pass without tripping over their own feet in the process

Both comments made me laugh cause they're true.

He sort of did bring something new to the game, he allowed his players to chase and harass the ref to a new level.
He bought in bullying the ref by his press conferences, he would call out refs before big games.
I cant think of anything good he brought to football. Like I have said before a posh Wimbledon.

PS pisscan I mean ;)

I always enjoyed Weaves' risky footwork to be fair.........

Edit: for some reason only just registered that you changed the parameters to 30 years - Coton?
