I am not sure intelligence comes into it. This was a case of the dominant clubs in England and Europe trying to keep out a new entrant, and no one likes new money. I don't think this is the case of City fans outsmarting the media but of the media misreading their case because they wanted to believe we were guilty.

A key part of intelligence is acknowledging you are not always right and you should retain an open mind. I would therefore suggest that some do lack intelligence.

Delaney works for a Russian/ Saudi owned organisation (the Independent) but has never shown any concern about human rights abuses in Russia which was already one of the world's most oppressive and evil regimes, even before they started slaughtering people in the Ukraine. He's a disgrace to his trade.
Since the Independent is partly Russian owned, presumably their football writers who do not desert are "feral rats."

We should not underestimate the effect of "group think" amongst football journos. They sit together week after week in press boxes, they drink together after the games and they decide together what line to follow on many issues.
On ffp this phenomenon reached its nadir with every single paper concluding that we were guilty, even tho' they had not seen any evidence. Relatively young journos would be brave to gainsay what senior heavyweights were saying. Oliver Kay, for example, was a voice raised strongly against us and may well have influenced the likes of Sam.

Lee going after Rabin today.

He deleted this and the earlier version of it. City fans aren't all militant but, but, but look at Rabin.

Another example of why it's OK for journalists to deploy whataboutery.

He posted a bizarre questionnaire (if you can even call it that) asking City fans how they view our club. He was then called out by a City fan as to why this was positioned only to City fans and not asking other supporters about their teams, Lee was dismissive in his reply. When you see what is going on with Abramovich, surely such a question would be more relevant for Chelsea fans...

I can almost never even make head nor tail of these Twitter discussions which get posted on here. Am I the only one?

I really like Sam Lee. I was dubious about him being a United fan at the beginning but he definitely won me round with his content. I think this is either the United fan coming through or he’s being pushed by The Athletic to take this new stance. It pretty much isolates him from City fans and almost makes his position as City corespondent untenable.

Maybe he’s angling for a different job.
(Fishing pun intended)
