The simpletons in the media love the morality angle. But it doesn't hold up. Our royal family and politicians meet plenty of unsavoury people in the course of their duties and we've been responsible for unimaginable misery in places like Iraq & Libya.
Of course I understand the hypocrisy and sold the harm caused by the West. But the point is the simpletons in the media have also pushed BREXIT through and basically turned a blind eye to the incredible corruption in our country so why can’t they make it another populist agenda to get rid of “immoral” owners?
As said, I hope I’m wrong but I’m worried that’s all

I share your concern as I’ve stated on here a few times. As many have pointed out to me however, I don’t think we have too much to worry about whilst the UAE and Western allies are key partners on trade, security and intelligence.

Removing City’s Emirati owner without legal justification would not go down well in the UAE at all.

How noble that some City fans have such admirable principles and such clean hands that they can berate our owner for the people he talks to. Of course, it can be of no importance that he is deputy PM of the UAE and that regional powers in the area include Iran and Syria and that the region has been unstable for the last 15 years at least and that Russia has played an increasingly prominent role there in recent years. Maybe the meeting was trying to bring greater stability to a troubled region. Such an objective can actually be achieved ONLY by meetings and negotiation. Perhaps the UAE expressed the view that they do not wish to see Syrian forces serving in the Ukraine. I understand that President Zelensky has been negotiating with Putin in an attempt to end the carnage. Surely we don't believe he's at fault for this! The fact is that if we wish to solve international problems we usually have to talk to people we don't like at all. Peace only came to Northern Ireland after intensive negotiations between our government and Irish republicans. They didn't like each other and they had to agree to some very controversial terms, but the carnage stopped. So, as one of the characters in Sartre's "Les Mains Sales" says, if you want to do good you have to put your arms in the shit up to your elbows."
It’s okay, no need to treat me as stupid. I can tell the difference between Ukraine and the Middle East.

Well I will admit I’m not as well researched as you. However, it seems to me that if you are anti Iran then you are pro Saudi. Now, I’m probably adding 2 and and making 15 but do you REALLY know what the UAE Middle East and wider strategy is? If so, fair play. The Saudi vs Iran battle as well as other geo politics are incredibly complex.
All I’m doing is looking at a series of things I believe the UAE are involved in which leave a nasty taste in the mouth, that our ownership are involved in and that the desire to get rid of us and Newcastle is very strong.
I’ll say it again, if the Tories can bring in The Nationality and Immigration and Police Bills, then I fear they could use a regulator to enforce a new PL Owners bill
I thought I'd explained it in my post. Because of religious reasons Iran is the enemy of most other middle eastern countries. It is currently backed by Russia. It may already have but certainly wants nuclear weapons. That makes it a grave threat to Saudi, the UAE, Israel and many others.
Syria is also backed by Russia.
Yes Assad is a murdering bastard but perhaps the UAE are thinking its better to have the murdering bastard on our side than Irans. That way we may enjoy our lives rather than being fried.
It is also why the UAE and Saudi are supporting the yemini govt. who are fighting Iranian backed insurgents.

Please tell me what you believe is happening in Yemen. Is it based on what the media are stating because if it is your wrong.
I worked on projects in Yemen with the UK govt from 2014-2019 through the start of the Houthi insurgency. Whilst I was banned from travelling to Sana’a as per Govt policy and the duty of care from the organisation I work for, I was privy to regular security updates from both Western and Yemeni sources and was in daily contact with many brave Yemenis who were working for us in order to help us provide evidence that UK humanitarian aid was largely going to the people who needed it and in fact led to an increase. So .I’m aware of the UAE boots on the ground and of course around strategic waterways and they’re supporting the Saudis in a limited way.

Exactly the type of deflection that I would expect from Liverpool fans.

It you can't acknowledge the UAE hosting the mass murdering **** Assad on its own merit is fucking atrocious, I give up.
As abhorrent as that picture seems, we don't know what was discussed
Was it pure Arab/brothers together in a bit of a jolly, or is the UAE talking to Assad on behalf of the West!

This picture is what triggered me. To actually see our owner sitting face to face with Assad, not as part of a delegation but one to one is really concerning to me. Now I hope other posters are right and it’s as part of a peacemaking strategy or some form of go between but I honestly don’t know without researching it.
Of course I know our owner and Chief Exec are well connected politically and active players both within the UAE govt and on a wider scale. I’ve had an itch about it especially over Yemen and Israel but I’ve generally ignored it, tried to think the best and just enjoyed the great ride we are still on. To tell the truth Ivd virtually completely ignored it. Every PL owner bar perhaps Delia is dodgy in some way so why pick on us and it’s because of jealousy and the American influence has always been my view. Also Sheikh Mansour has been very much in the background as far as the club is concerned and again that’s fine by me.
However this new moral front against us is gathering pace and seeing that picture with Assad as well as being publicly named by an MP has shocked and upset me quite a bit - as Assad starts his rehabilitation back into the fold, virtually the first person he is pictured with is our owner! Anyway, like all peace living people I really do hope it is for the good of the Syrian people and the region.
Goodnight and lets hope we best Saints tomorrow.

No, 1 has. Many others have piled in on him.
Maybe years of being told by a corrupt media that our club is a dirty sport washing project which we should all be ashamed of has gotten their backs up a bit and going on the defensive is just something that's become an automatic response.

Anyway, it's not like you're new to Bluemoon, what did you expect?
