Nick Harris. Former MUEN I think?
I love how he posts it at 11pm on a Sunday night, after a City win. Knowing it will take a while before anyone comes to tear it to shreds. I'm writing this, half hoping he will come and check the forum, as he usually does after
shitposting about City on twitter.
it truly is a miracle that Man City are top of Deloitte's global rich list 2022 (highest revenue football club in the world in 2020-21).
No miracle, maybe wipe your grease smeared spectacles and read the report properly. 52% of the revenue, all came from broadcasting.
Didn't City only miss 1 game(FA Cup final), out of all possible appearances last season? That's a hefty wedge.
Real(£285m) and Bayern(£306m) both posted higher commercial revenues than City(£273m)in the same period. How do they do it? I think there was a reason they included the two season average of commercial revenues too, in the report but Nick's obviously not concerned with balance.
To start, I notice BlueCityBrain got around to doing a comparison of City's latests accounts as he/she did with last years figures, which is a nice visual representation of how misleading Nick's words are:
56+% of their global commercial income from Etihad, Visit Abu Dhabi, Nexen (partners with UAE SWF), ExPo 2020 Dubai, Wega (cough), Socios (cough), Emirates Palace. How DO they do it? Incredible.
Where is he getting 56% from? Many of the sponsors on that list are part of the smaller sponsors, some of those aren't even correct to include, when talking about deloitte's latest report because they are new and will be part of next year's books.
Nexen - Korean tyre manufacturer, nice spin trying to make out they aren't legit somehow though. Not disingenuous at all(cough).
Wega(UK) - One of the smaller commercial deals, estimated to be worth £2m or under -
Why the cough? Either make your accusation or we'll just assume it's more of your posturing buffoonery.
Socios(ITA) - Again estimated to be around the £2m mark - As much as I don't like City being connected to them(or betting companies). Arsenal, Leeds, Everton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the PL. Barcelona, Ateletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla in La Liga and pretty much all of the big clubs in Serie A. Uefa themselves.
All of these can be found listed as their partners. Yet you felt the need to tack this one on, when discussing City's commercial revenue, as if it was something unique and noteworthy. Not disingenuous at all.(cough)
Emirates Palace - UAE based of course... But not part of the 2020 - 2021 accounts.
I think it's telling, that he had to do that. That whole tweet, reeks of a man who was struggling to find enough UAE based commercial partners, to sell his narrative. As CityBlueBrain points out, the smaller commercial deal partners, account for around 29% of the commercial revenue. There's around 38 different partners(quick count by eye) and only 4 of those(that are actually part of 2020-21's books) are UAE based. It's extremely unlikely that any of those are that high. Some of the smaller deals are also short term contracts, it goes without saying that list is the most subject to change from year to year(Expo 2020 in Dubai finishes at the end of this month, for example).
Personally, I think it's a deliberate decision by the club, to keep the number of those smaller deals from the UAE low(4 out of 38 is low no matter how you spin it). They should legally be able to have more and the demand is probably there too. After all, there's quite at of going on in the world of business over in the UAE, despite how the whatsapp group talk, as if it's just oil money and shell companies(lol). Of course, if they did increase the number, then people like Nick would try and misrepresent the facts surrounding those deals(as he is already doing) and use it as ammunition in their personal crusade against City.
Of the major sponsors that are UAE based: Etihad, Etisalat and Visit Abu Dhabi account for just under 32% of the commercial revenue. I don't know about anyone else but I think that is quite a reasonable percentage and certainly nothing like the picture Nick Harris and those like him are trying to paint.
That leaves: Puma(GER), Nissan(JPN), Nexen(KOR) and Marathon Bet(UK) which make up around 39% of Manchester City's Commercial revenue. As you'll notice, none of those are UAE based.
The highest major commercial agreement, is joined between Etihad and Puma, at just under 25% each. Just in case it wasn't enough, that UEFA's own auditors admitted they couldn't show the Etihad deal to be inflated, as far back as 2014.
TLDR: Nick, you're a bitter fool of a man.
