A murky transfer window
With all the drama of transfer day, it can be hard to keep track of all the latest figures and deals flying around. One particular exec at a big club was clearly hoping to use this commotion to their advantage, but people have started to notice a curious eight-figure discrepancy bubbling up on the books.

At least three unlikely summer transfers are now under the microscope, including one in which the club ended up paying £20m more for a player than the selling club asked for – and it's not immediately clear where the remaining balance might have ended up.

As there doesn't seem to be a satisfactory answer forthcoming, we're told we can expect a big resignation (or "mutually agreed departure") to take place before too long.
Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal most likely suspects maybe given the transfers they all made?

Thanks for the nod @jrb. Just started listening to this station and so far I can't complain, (except the adverts of course.)
You'll soon get fed up with the same tunes being played, they have an obsession with some shite on there like A Brim full of Asha which must be played at least 5 times a week. DJ's are fucking wank and it's weird how many times Clint Boon plays the Inspiral Carpets on his own show.

This is why net spend is the shittest metric in football, even more so than xG.

It shows negative net spend for us of £203.4m in 17/18. Yet when you compare the 2018 accounts with the previous year's, our total player costs (wages plus amortisation) only increased by about £7.5m. If you also include any profit on sale of players in the player cost calculation, by subtracting any profit from wages and amortisation, that figure goes down to £3.5m. So that £203.4m net spend is £200m higher than our actual increase in player costs.

And how many newspapers do you think will fly off the shelves with terrible, long worded and factual headlines like that? ;-)
