When you listen to Rooney's contribution it is clear how little he knows about the tactical side of football. It never ceases to amaze me how little some players actually learn about the sport they play. To be fair Rooney was a great player (for a period) but he was always an instinctive sort of player and his career was in a team which played a rigid 442 formation for 20 years. I thought his tactical comments on SKY last night were embarrasssing. He will never make the grade as a top Manager.

We know all too well that this media hype of delivering all 4 major trophies ends up with cracks appearing.

As long as the media are now focusing on their attempt at it, leaving us alone to quietly focus on our treble, I’m more than happy with that.

Got in from swimming this morning and put telly got the end of some interview on ITV about some kids doing a sponsored walk to OT to raise funds for Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool. At the end of the interview they asked the kids " who will win the league Liverpool or Man Utd" . The kids looked confused then were badgered to shout Liverpool. The media don't know we exist champions of England but but only red shirts matter.

Article in today’s Times. Reporter Paul Joyce. Headline “The step-by-step guide to winning the Quadruple”.
There follows a nauseatingly sycophantic two pages worth of all things dipper. It concludes with….”The coach’s perspective - Phil Thompson was the assistant to Houllier between 1998 and 2004”
His pearls of wisdom include “if they stay injury free then that gives them the best chance of winning all the trophies” Followed by “If there is ever a team that is going to do it (win the quadruple) it will be Liverpool. City have been in a position to win the Quadruple before but I don’t believe they have the magic that Liverpool has. That is why they are capable of doing the impossible”
I mean, where do you start with such ungrammatical and illogical jibberish.
Do they really believe this stuff?

So 'magic' is the attribute?
He got paid for that?

BBC Breakfast earlier sports report opened with Liverpool are playing In CL tonight.....unprecedented Quad .....blah blah blah. Pictures of von Trapp and squad all training with happy faces and then Van Dick at a presser going on how good they were. Whole thing was enthusiastic and optimistic and from the way it started l was thinking Shirley they can't leave City out?
But l was wrong. The BIG (big Irish girl) presenter spoke about City starting with a critical 'Pep is often accused of overthinking things ....' before cutting to our presser where they left out Pep saying our players treat the pressure games as 'a joy and a pleasure to play in. They also omitted him putting their very own Simple Simon in his place by telling him he was not going to get into 'that stupid debate'. Pep then said of course he thinks a lot about games before mischievously saying our new tactic would be to play with 12 men. The BIG sarcastically said 'good luck with that Pep' as if she thought that was a real tactic he was employing.
So we had a report on two teams playing in the same stage of the same competition and the two reports are miles apart, one very positive and the other the complete opposite - selective cuts from a presser. Why be biased when both English clubs are playing foreign opposition?
All the more reason to start to crank up the animosity for the league match.
Edit. Pep jokes about 12 men. Rather different tactic to the 10 that l typed at first!

Looks like so-called sports journalists could take the rest of this week off as the sports pages have been handed over to Littlewoods FC's PR Department. I can think of many countries where such a takeover would be correctly called out as blatant propaganda, but not here as it's par for the course. The combined power and influence of the media on society is terrifying and Littlewoods are inexplicably being allowed to control it. The pressure on the Officials on Sunday will be immense.

It's everywhere as well.
All the media including the previously serious ones have sunk to tabloid level.
BBC TV has become Sky without the ads and banners.
Radio 5 has dropped to Talkshite levels.
It really is difficult to find unbiased sports reporting. Putin would love such media reporting.
