We now know how important the league cup is even if just to shut the quad stories down.
How the media treats us will be long forgotten in years to come when we have even more trophies written under our name in the history books. You can't deny the facts our team present as to how good they currently are. The people who do will look increasingly more stupid. They'll have to throw the towel in at some point and hold their hands up (hopefully come the end of May)BBC Breakfast earlier sports report opened with Liverpool are playing In CL tonight.....unprecedented Quad .....blah blah blah. Pictures of von Trapp and squad all training with happy faces and then Van Dick at a presser going on how good they were. Whole thing was enthusiastic and optimistic and from the way it started l was thinking Shirley they can't leave City out?
But l was wrong. The BIG (big Irish girl) presenter spoke about City starting with a critical 'Pep is often accused of overthinking things ....' before cutting to our presser where they left out Pep saying our players treat the pressure games as 'a joy and a pleasure to play in. They also omitted him putting their very own Simple Simon in his place by telling him he was not going to get into 'that stupid debate'. Pep then said of course he thinks a lot about games before mischievously saying our new tactic would be to play with 10 men. The BIG sarcastically said 'good luck with that Pep' as if she thought that was a real tactic he was employing.
So we had a report on two teams playing in the same stage of the same competition and the two reports are miles apart, one very positive and the other the complete opposite - selective cuts from a presser. Why be biased when both English clubs are playing foreign opposition?
All the more reason to start to crank up the animosity for the league match.
I love it when we’re sat top of the league and all the media hacks come up with is “how to stop city!” Yet when the dippers are on top it’s just praise and fawning over how amazing they are. WankersThe dippers were shite at weekend yet hardly a murmur from the press about their performance going into this ‘quadruple defining’ fortnight whereas we won quite comfortably playing some lovely football in our, mysteriously understated ‘treble defining’ fortnight where the only interest is “how City can be beaten”. Fucking twats the lot of them, the only two worth listening to are Gaughan and Samuel.
I once did a parcel hatch repair job at Dunfermline post office, drove up from a similar job in the borders. I parked in the little car park right behind it. Had my mini City kit air freshener hanging from my Vans rear view mirror. And amazingly the Cars parked both sides of me had the very same mini hanging City kits . Always stuck me as a bit strange as we weren’t such a global powerhouse back then.I've spent some time in Dunfermline since the 90s as my aunty and uncle are up there never ever saw many city shirts only me, seems most support the pars but at the same time support Celtic and man u , haven't been back for five years. Was always a good night out
I honestly can't believe why they write such stories knowing how wrong and stupid they look. How the media treats us will be long forgotten in years to come when we have even more trophies written under our name in the history books. You can't deny the facts our team present as to how good they currently are. The people who do will look increasingly more stupid. They'll have to throw the towel in at some point and hold their hands up (hopefully come the end of May)
Likely it’ll be Martin Samuel though and, though I don’t object to him wining and dining, it’ll cost a few quid more than normal…..Adam Shergold - Daily United (Mail)
