What can City realistically do? Any one with any legal experience will tell you a institution the size of City taking on a media outlet is a PR disaster. If you think the shit we get now is bad, wait until we are seen to be a 'Middle-Eastern owned club attacking free speech' because that is what will come. That will attract negative publicity much further than sports journalists & have a much greater impact on the clubs reputation.

The fact is this isn't going to stop, it hasn't since 2018 when it started. These new leaks contain nothing new, maybe an email that says we need to keep the auditors onside from 2012 would be the only one causing slight concern, but in any event, it's from fucking 2012. This will blow over as it's been dealt with @ CAS in detail. City will settle with the PL outside of arbitration as it's a nightmare for both parties to sort (imo) & the media will move full tilt from FFP cheats to getting state ownership out of the game.

Well said CG. People still do not ‘get it’. As we are all well aware the media is dominated by supporters of ‘certain’ clubs. They will always find a way to get at us. To ’take them to the cleaners’ will only fill up metres and metres of space in the media which is exactly what they want thus improving circulation and therefore profits.

The only people the club is interested in is the regulators EUFA, PL. If these people come calling we have seen we get the big guns out and that is all that matters to them. An article in a newspaper will not hit our bottom line. We have seen that we are the riches club in the world with ‘outlets’ in 9 (?) countries. Spiegels article is small time and unless PL UEFA et al come knocking it will bother our owners not one jot. As people on here often say ‘no f..ks given’.

In case you missed it City did do something about when they went to CAS, perhaps you should read the judgment to see that all accusations were thrown out, except non cooperation with UEFA for which we were fined.

Who do you want City to sue, every pretend journalist on Twitter or everyone who reprints this nonsense for clicks, we could apply for the internet to be shut down? Or spend millions on constant litigation?

I will forward your suggestion to City and tell them rather strongly @Cityfan1977 is getting upset and his panties in a right twist unless they make it stop right now!

Taking the high road isn't working in terms of City's/Abu Dhabi's reputation.

Arguably these organisations want City to do that - it simply provides them with further ammunition along the lines of 'shutting down scrutiny' and 'censoring the free press'

AD/Sheikh Mansour won't engage, I'd expect they're fully aware of how it's viewed but are pragmatic enough to realise it's small fry in terms of the global view. Club now has millions of fans across the world and AD/SM far larger issues.

Honestly, whatever they write in the papers is almost irrelevant. CAS ended UEFA’s attempts to retrospectively ban us.

These stories always come out in April each year. All they do is rile up the scousers.

The PL FFP investigation may or may not be ongoing. It’s been over 4 years so far and they haven’t done anything. There’s no new information, just a press release of a stupid email.

It was never for City to show how Etihad and the rest of our sponsors funded their sponsorships. All City had to do is show they went in the accounts as agreed.

UEFA/FA can request the info from our sponsors, but they are most likely to be told to fuck off and mind their own business.
