Cue all the rags saying that the cost of Ronaldo's fee and wages will be more than covered by shirt sales which is a myth they trot out whenever they shell out too much for a player. (Think Pogba).

Firstly, the rags sell around 3 million shirts a year and that figure doesn't vary much up or down. Although they may get some additional sales the bulk of the shirts would go to rags who would have bought one anyway. It's just that they'll have the name Ronaldo on the back instead of Lingard, Lindelof or McTominay.

Secondly, most clubs get only 10%-15% of royalties from kit manufacturers on shirts they sell. However, the rags' kit deal with Adidas is so front loaded with basic sponsorship cash they get only 5%-6% royalties. Say shirt costs £70. Sales of 3 million would gross £210 million. 5% of that is £10.5 million which wouldn't cover his transfer fee and would only cover about 4 months wages.
It’ll be far less than that surely!
the rags won’t receive 5% of the retail sale, they’ll be collecting 5% of the wholesale price (Adidas’ sale), so more likely a quid a shirt

The Ronaldo signing is a typical Rag move , they are like the Harlem Globetrotters of football , style over substance , only they have zero style. For all the unprecendented bullshit they will be a laughing stock at the end of the season if they end up potless for the seventh season on the trot , we may have the most expensive assembled squad in europe , but if it is broken down into price per trophy the the Rags and Dippers are not in the same league , we have trounced both of them for over a decade.
They had both better get used to it , because the next decade is going to be exactly the same.

If it wasn't for viagra my Mrs would of left me years ago.
The rag infested media makes me naturally droop like a willow

Everyone? My God! How those scribbling whores long for the 90's and 00's when Utd were the nation's darlings! The good old days when lickspittle commentators and slavish pundits urged us to get behind the greatest team with the greatest manager the world had ever seen! And how petty it was for fans of other clubs to cling to their rivalries in the presence of the mighty reds!

Oh those glorious European nights under the lights! Utd as England's club team! And now with added Ronaldo!

Yes! Everyone deserves to see that! Even if it's only against Toon relegation fodder.

Everyone my arse!
That is brill, hope you don't mind, gonna use it

It’s sad that when I use to read the online media 10 years ago i enjoyed its content. Not a lot of bullshit about city but there again not much written about city. Now it’s a quick glance at the so called quality papers and the red tops, usually what would have taken me a good hour of perusing has now become speed reading then jump onto blue moon to calm down.
Loved my daily paper, not now, must be 5 or 6 years since I looked at one.

BBC coverage of City might not be ideal but we get far better coverage on there than elsewhere. Referring this evening to story on Cole Palmer goal for U21s
