Manchester United fan Peter Brookes is taken for treatment after he was struck by a dart which embedded in area of his eye and nose..while watching the Liverpool v ManchesterMView attachment 46561

Going by the fashion, I'm guessing this is 1990 ;)
Wasn't there a pic of a City fan with a dart in his head?
I think the fences were taken down after Hillsborough in 1989, so I would definitely say it's well before 1990.
So it's probably mid/late 70s or maybe early 80s.

I don't know why people don't make the point more often to him and his ilk that Sheikh Mansour etc have invested a billion pounds into an asset that was worth £200 million and is now worth over £4 billion, making it one of the shrewest investments ever known.

The fact that they have taken a short term hit for long term gain means simply that they are cleverer than the likes of the Glazers etc.

Exactly. This is how I break it down to
idiot.
Mansour spent £1.5bn to have an asset worth £4bn. He’s also sold 20% of that asset for £800m. So he’s had over half his total investment back and still retains 78% of a £4bn asset. So, for his £700m investment remaining, he has an asset value of circa £3.3bn
It’s truly terrific investment.

I'm almost convinced they don't let the people with good arguments onto the waiting list on Talksport. Anyone phoning in should trick them, if they do ask what your argument is.

Great post but to pick you up on one thing, you've got one too many zeroes in the figure of what we were worth when Sheikh Mansour took over. The shares were probably only worth £40m tops, not £200m. The £200m includes all the debt, plus the loans from Wardle & Makin. In fact Thaksin only paid £21m for the shares 12 months earlier so that's probably about what they were worth in reality.

probably wrong thread but please bear with me. Watched on Citys website about blues around the world and got to say it brought a tear to my eye and also how proud I am of seeing where we are now compared to where we were a few years ago. For all those young fans who have witnessed us has we are now there’s a few of us old fans who never thought we would be this.

Do you know if it's true about the utd fan getting off with it?
Yes, he did...claimed the dart hit his hand first and he grabbed it, pulled it out and flung it away without thinking...
I'd say 'yeah, tell it to the judge' but it appears he did and it worked!

Went to the Rolling Stones concert at Anfield last night. Organisation was spot on along with the facilities. Plenty of Manc accents before and during the day and weirdly quite a few Everton shirts on show. The gist of my post is the unnecessary rendition of YNWA after the Stones left the stage before coming back on for the encore.it's been reported in the media that it was some kind of mystical form of encouragement that induced the group to reappear when we all know that at a neutral non sporting event an encore is the norm and Mick and co were probably oblivious to their chorus anyway. What the media didn't report is that they had hijacked an event and made it all about THEM again.Personally I would feel embarrassed if it was reported that Ed Sheeran had been brought to tears at the Etihad rendition of Blue Moon at one of his recent gigs.
