The media are rammed full of United and Liverpool fans, few of which if any, grew up in Manchester or Liverpool. They have enjoyed their reflected glory for decades, and now, faced with a superior club in every single respect, are squirming. It hurts, and rather than face up to their own shortcomings, they are looking for a scapegoat.
What we are now reading in the media is a function of that discomfort. Rather than accept the reality of the situation i.e. City are the best run club in football and are here to stay, they prefer to lash out. It's what a child does when faced with an uncomfortable truth. All the articles start off with the agenda "Let's get City", which means the content is irrelevant, because the conclusion is already determined by the agenda.
There is no requirement for a successful club to defend its success. Liverpool didn't need to in the 80s, United in the 90s, and Real Madrid or Barcelona over the last 20 years. And City don't need to now. Let them write their articles while City do their talking on the pitch. And please don't feel the need to justify City's success, there is no requirement, just enjoy it.
The
only reason there is this clamor is because the successful team is not United, it's not Liverpool, it's Manchester City. The balance of power has shifted and the vested interests don't like it.
