Mr Swales says a big thank you to the 47,000 who turned up !!!
My arse 47,000 and looking out from the top of the North Stand it was more like 57,000.
57k?

I would seriously put it higher than that, I was in the Main Stand that day, is was wild, all the walkways rammed with people, Kippax, Platt Lane and North Stand rammed, what a great day but PJ must have made a fortune that day.

Think he took a third off the gate and trousered the rest.

This dirge associated with Liverpool and Celtic is promoted as if it was the only football song . If I'm honest never been mad on Blue Moon originally Crew Alex's anyway. Delilah (Stoke ) , Wild Rover ( Burnley), Annie's Song (Sheff Utd ) , Mull of Kintire ( Forrest ) and Bubbles ( West Ham ) all much better than YNWA. Surprisingly Rags don't have a anthem that is unmistakably theirs , if they did no doubt it would be rammed down our throats by the media.
I understand all that, but the point I was making was the British Legion chose the music not the beeb.
Therefor if you were referring to YNWA being used as part of the British Legion service of rememberance, the bias you perceive was perpetrated by the British Legion.
If you were referring to something else the Beeb has broadcast then fair enough but please tell me which program

I happened to walk in on my girlfriend yesterday when she was watching Strictly Come Dancing on BBC. Bizarrely, their dance tribute to our troops was to the tune of YNWA. I don't think the British Legion chose the music for that, or maybe they did. Who knows ?
