City fans are a social group whose club is attacked by a corporate media for identifiable reasons that are part political and part commercial. It follows from that that we should follow a certain strategy to deal with that.

Yes, but that strategy should not call out those blues who disagree with it as "letting the side down", that is a step too far.

In my local bar over here watching the Newcastle match and a this bloke walked in and said which screen will be showing the Arsenal game and told him it’s been postponed then he asked are u a toon fan and told him no Manchester City. It's worth noting that The Guardian aren't actually "woke". Not that they don't cater to that audience (they 100% do as has been pointed out by you and PB and probably many others), it's just the people running the show don't actually care and like any other business are just doing what it takes to make money. It's the market they operate in.

99% of their staff are of that "progressive" mindset, but the 1% at the very top that actually matter are just as crooked and greedy as the rest.

For a supposedly intelligent man, he never makes the comparison with other clubs' successful periods marrying with an influential and rich owner.

David Conn has become a well known journalist on the Guardian and author since 2009 when he started to write heavily critical books and articles about Manchester City's new owners who happen to be Arabs. David Conn himself is Jewish. He used the gimmick of writing these vitriolic books as a City fan who claims to have lost his love for City once the new (Arab) owners took over.
In the 25 years preceding the take over of City David Conn was a struggling hack writing books and articles about football finance and how the 'big teams' had prospered in the PL but nobody really read his stuff until he started his anti City campaign. It is true to say that this Jewish lad from Salford's career would not have flourished without the intervention of a group of Arabs and his campaign against them. He performed a complete about turn dropping his previous criticism of the big bad boys of the 80s and 90s.
