Did he go into specific details of how this reset would be achieved or was he just issuing soundbites ? Does he want us to go back to the local scrap metal dealer owning their local club ? Is it back to the days of Swales, Ken Bates, Louis Edwards etc that he advocates ?
What splendid memories this evokes! And by heck, didn't they all look bonny lined up in their blazers with the club badges, all full of their own self-importance?! Halcyon days indeed!

(..as the Old Man would often say when seeing these crooks preening on tv or in the press - 'I wouldn't trust those bl**ders as far as I could throw them.. they're all bent as nine bob notes')

Agreed mate. And if he’s looking at Germany, it’s hardly the best advert for a competitive league is it?
He was rabbiting on about preventing future ‘Macclesfields’ etc. but I think we know that’s not his real agenda.
Macc won their league and got promoted yesterday.

What’s the point of Twitter if you get banned for calling somebody a ****?? The place is fucking full of them so how are you supposed to not call them one?
Meh! Looks like I’m sticking to BM.
As far as I can tell, being called a **** is a mark of esteem and worn as a badge of honour on here.

If it happens to you............cherish it.

He is right .

We need to stop any more American owners. We dont want a closed shop league.
We dont want owners who's country keeps people locked up and never charge on Guantanamo Bay, where the prisoners are touched.
A country where they carry guns freely and shot each other daily.
A country that is very racist partially in the southern bible belt.

Where their country invades other countries they dont agree with.
Where some of their owners use sponsors guilt of money laundering.
Where some owners hack into other clubs pc's.
just seen Jason Cundy on YouTube interviewing Chelsea fans before today's game. One had something to do with the Chelsea pitch owners association and he was adamant they wouldn't allow the club to become an American franchise.

Surprised it took this long to see some drivel like this

If he had bothered to check Google he would know that the UAE abstained in the first vote but since then has consistently supported UN resolutions condemning Russia starting with the vote on March 2. So is Wigmore incompetent or just malicious? Either way it is a disgrace that the Telegraph is happy to have such a "fake news" merchant working for them.

Why let facts get in the way of a malicious story?

Can someone explain what is Wrong with UAE?

“Human rights”. The migrants don’t have to go and work there.

lot of moral outrage at 81 executions yesterday in Saudi Arabia but they have the death penalty and some people would bring that back here. The executed were apparently all terrorists. These football journalists have effectively decided that death penalty is wrong. Tell that to the US.

If Wigmore was a credible journalist he might have asked himself a question: "Why did the UAE and India abstain in the first vote?" According to the (usually credible source) Bloomberg it was to encourage a diplomatic solution, presumably involving India and China who also abstained, which many experts believe is the way forward to prevent World War 3.

Spot on. In the fifties City and that other lot got equal recognition. Munich gave united a story all over the world but we largely held our own in the 60s and 70s. Thereafter, our decline and their rise boosted their recognition especially thru TV internationally. So we missed out on a whole generation but our recent success has made all the difference and that old pendulum is now swinging our way. We just need them relegating now!
Not quite right from my recollection.

United certainly did get a big PR boost after the Munich crash but they were all over the media for two years before that.

There was all the hype over the Busby Babes. They even had the United Calypso song all over the radio airwaves. Manchester United as we know them were created by the media before and after Munich.
