It is, but the story comes from The Athletic with the MP criticising being Chris Bryant, the very same Chris Bryant who tweeted the following to a Russian Oligarch father and son:

So not the government then. Not even anyone with any responsibility for the Middle East.

Help me, Rhondda (yes, I know).

Although they have to be seen to be critical of any overtures to Syria, I very much doubt the government or foreign office will be personally criticising Mansour. Not a great headline by the BBC, unless I am wrong.

Chris Bryant. Just another attention seeking leftie stamping his feet. First Chelsea, then Everton, now tenuously linking City to his 'look at me' media campaign.
Bryant seems to be a man devoid of any integrity. As usual his comments are reported without the context of his background.

There was a mention on the forum somewhere that the meeting between Syria and uae was on behalf/sponsored by the UN.

I can’t find any news item saying that though, has anyone got a link to something that shows that to be the case?

if it is sponsored by the UN then they can all STFU, ( cf uk govt meeting Sinn Fein).

if it was part of a wider Arab led progression on Syria… hmm maybe ok.

if it was just the UAE off their own bat… that’s not a particularly good look.
Are they supposed to let the crap continue, destabilising the Middle East (let alone the suffering) or is it not better that someone step in and try and resolve it? I might add that absolutely no-one seems to know what the meeting is actually about.

I could care less if the Americans are "disappointed".

It was Roan, was it?

Actually, it's pretty comforting that Mansour doesn't give a single shit about what these people say or write. He must be incredibly secure in his, and the club's, position not to give the slightest toss (compare to Abramovich and how that turned out).

Maybe we as fans should take the same approach.

Nick, if you're reading this - how did the survey go?

I've been thinking about this. Didn't he launch this "research" to find out who the PL's worst owner was just before Abramovic was sanctioned ? If so, I have a vision of thousands of dippers and rags completing his dodgy questionnaire, hours and hours spent "analysing" the result, hours and hours writing up his conclusions in such a way as to give it a faux gravitas. And then.....Abramovic.... Shit, guess it'll have to wait.

Tariq Panja's life must be really miserable. he wakes up. eats breakfast. probably works from home. turns on the laptop. lets tweet something about City along the line of revenues, sportwashing, UAE etc.
rinse and repeat until end of work day. go to bed.

but what is really miserable you can get a nice salary for doing this day in day out.

but I think having to do this requires a special breed, I mean he is having this as some kind of important life goal to make sure City owners go away or restricted further so we cannot be a danger to the beloved United, Liverpool.
while his beloved team like Glazer doing deal with UAE on cricket, Liverpool regularly using squad trips on a warm weather training cap of Dubai, not mentioning Saudi Arabia sponsorship deals.

Btw has any one see question Saudi sponsorship deals to be cut and stopped from these journos? maybe a question directly asked from MU CEO of the number of people executed in Saudi Arabia? maybe put directly to Wreck it Ralph?

I have had a drink but I also respect your opinions so if you say my post is a pile of shit then in a way it's comforting.
I know we are not State owned, you and other posters as well as the CAS verdict made that clear.
My issue is around the morality question and whether we are at risk as a club but also as a fan I do have the right to question the morality of our owners.
Well, yes you do. BUT you need facts if you are asking questions based on the two events you mention i.e. 1.The rapprochement of the Gulf states with Israel. 2. Mansour meeting Assad.
The two are connected in that UAE was the lead on the arab side in the negotiation of the Abraham accords that normalised relations between the Gulf states and Israel. Are you not in favour of the accords? Have you read accurate reports of them? Now you need to read the report of the UN session on 24th Feb at which the UN's special rep for Syria called for a political settlement of the civil war there and the UAE rep said it was important that it was an Arab led effort, not an imposition from outside. Not hard to guess why UAE is talking to Assad.
The enemy of all here is Iran who ferments terrorist acts throughout the region.(See Yemen). Maybe arab states want Iran out of Assad's camp?
I could go on, but I will just caution you against condemning people without doing your homework. That is what all those journos and Bryant are doing, scoring points off others' misery.
Criticize them all you like, but get your facts straight first.

Well I will admit I’m not as well researched as you. However, it seems to me that if you are anti Iran then you are pro Saudi. Now, I’m probably adding 2 and and making 15 but do you REALLY know what the UAE Middle East and wider strategy is? If so, fair play. The Saudi vs Iran battle as well as other geo politics are incredibly complex.
All I’m doing is looking at a series of things I believe the UAE are involved in which leave a nasty taste in the mouth, that our ownership are involved in and that the desire to get rid of us and Newcastle is very strong.
I’ll say it again, if the Tories can bring in The Nationality and Immigration and Police Bills, then I fear they could use a regulator to enforce a new PL Owners bill
And what would be in it that touched City?
