I remember a cringeworthy article about the England World Cup winning Rugby team. He declared that Football was nothing compared to Rugby Union. He suggested abandoning Football because Rugby Union was much better as a sport.

He carried on about the why everyone should support Newcastle Rugby because the had Jonny Wilkinson. Unfortunately at the time he was writing had played next to no Rugby for 18 months!

Hattenstone is a decent writer when he focusses on the real issues rather than trying to plug whatever current hobbyhorse be has in his mind.

Lets see, Saudis are state sponsored terrorists who blew up thousands and destroyed the World Trade Centre and killed and butchered a journalist. Qatar are letting the whole world know about their approach to LBGT issues at the world cup. An Abu Dhabi citizen took on the elite in English football and their American hedge fund owners destroying their monopoly of English football and bringing untold investment into a forgotten industrial wasteland in east Manchester and creating thousands of jobs. Yeah, they are the bad guys;-)
