We hear talk about sky losing the pl etc but will it make any difference ? Amazon and bt still employ the same pundits as sky.
The long-term change will be clubs (who own their own content) broadcasting matches and taking the lion's share of revenues. It will be more like the boxing pay-per-view model and will produce a huge increase in revenues for the clubs. The clubs have the product and don't need a middle man to broadcast it. The technical side of streaming is easy to organise. SKY will become obsolete so all the parasites like Neville and his chums will be on the scrapheap. This is why the media is fighting so strongly against a Super League which would manage its own broadcast deal directly with the clubs. The relationship between the PL and broacasters (and PGMOL) is driven by self-interest.

I agreed with much of your post, but not the conclusion.

To be a leader you have to have followers and we don't.

But one thing is certain, we're not supportive of a regulator because we're counter culture, unless you think our crony capitalism is somehow better than Yanky crony capitalism.

As for prepared for what's coming? There's no way to know that. All we want is the status quo gone because it works against us, but that wasn't always our view.

These past fifteen years we've wanted to be part of the status quo. We are where we are coz the old guard won't let us in, in fact they're actively hostile, so there's a potential upside for us if the regulator muzzles the fuckers who want us gone.

As for what replaces it, particularly under this government, is anyone's guess. Chances are it'll work to our advantage but I suspect our real motivation for the regulator is down to the realisation that we're never going to join the closed shop.
I think the so called free west has been a Corporatism for at least a decade and nobody has noticed. Man’s ability to find new ways for the rich to exploit the poor is amazing. Capitalism, Corporatism, Communism, Technocracy, we always lose.

Can’t see a regulator stopping the historic elite controlling the Premier League.

Most of the PL don’t want a regulator as they fear cash will be distributed more evenly down the pyramid.

I fail to see how a regulator will stop the influence certain clubs have over the PL. Although from City’s point of view maybe it’s worth seeing whether it does.

Had the misfortune to watch the last half hour yesterday at my brother's on sly. The only one who made any sense was roy fking keane! Micah literally has become the comedy jester, not strong enough or able to articulate well.

Did Neville's mum cut his hair and choose his clothes? He looked like a bewildered idiot.

Clubs will be broadcasting their own games very soon and sly/bt will be extinct. They've had over a decade to evolve their coverage, instead they're firmly entrenched in 90s fan boy territory. I believe their subscribers are haemorrhaging big numbers, the printed word is dying a death.

Like I say I watch foreign streams in preference, have to say the American one fronted by Rebecca Lowe is particularly decent as it's innovative and tries to analyse, something that spit and ratty could never do in their dreams.

I think there will be an increase in fan produced content, though hopefully not fan TV bantz!

There's a huge market for intelligent non pandering content which the usual suspects have been utterly oblivious to, shame.

I had the misfortune of tuning into a Sky stream for yesterday's match for 30 seconds of ratboy & spitty's screeching when my US based stream went a bit wonky. It's worse than watching FanTV. Even Lee Dixon was more professional than those 2 clowns and Peter Drury is head and shoulders clear of Tiresome as the main commentator too.
Watched the match on a channel i'd not seen before (vidio; think it was Malaysian) and the coverage pissed all over sky's. The cameras were either flying around on drones or pitchside and right in the action. Crowd noise was unfiltered and loud, commentators voices were more in the background.
Flipped over to sky and thought i was watchiing a different game. Sound was dull and muddy and comm's was much louder and intrusive.

I think what City want is a level playing field, not sure they ever wanted to be part of any cartel. just imagine that, we've rubbed their noses in it without 1.

this all day long ^

We're all crying out for less of this fanboy shite and more analysis. Football nowadays is technically beautiful, but they just reduce it to shit that sells.

We do have followers (both in the premier league and down the divisions), they just aren’t vocal ones, and for good reason. I think you may be thinking of the change that is happening (and coming) in too narrow of terms. It is going to be seismic, due to a confluence of factors not seen for many decades (which reaches well beyond football, by the way).

And we are counterculture, for the exact reasons you outline. I was speaking of the league culture, which is one old guard cronyism, or a closed shop, as you put it. We are by definition counter to it, as we realised we could not be members. It is pragmatism, to be sure, but many a revolutionary began as a jaded pragmatist.

I can assure you, we have been working to place ourselves in the best possible position as the chaotic transition unfolds.

Whilst we are all crying out for unbiased coverage it’s not gonna happen. It’s getting worse.

Sky BT - it’s all the same. Riddled with ex reds of both sides from the 90s.

It’s why Sky MNF has now descended into a parody ‘thats 5 mins about tonight’s game but let’s ask Carra and Neville about Utd and LFC’.

It’s why Mark Goldberg has his own fucking show on Talksport.

Its fairly obvious the controllers of all the sports channels have gone down this route.

Look at Talksport for instance, as well as Goldberg they have dickheads like Alex Crook getting a bigger presence - encouraging him to play the one eyed southern Utd fan making snide comments about City at every opportunity. He presents a show on Sunday night that is like listening to 4 southern Utd and Liverpool fans in a pub that have never been to a game chatting absolute bollocks.

Who the fuck wants to listen to shite like that and Goldberg ( but somebody obviously does cause they keep putting it on ).
