When we first signed Ya Ya Toure the mainstream media repeatedly reported his salary as £250,000 a week and he became known as "£250,000 a week" Toure for the rest of his career. This was totally false and I know for certain he was actually on "just over half what was reported" ie about £130,000 a week. The person who told me (years later) was one of the people who had drawn up the contract and was 100 per cent reliable.

That’s interesting. So when we sang ‘oh Yaya Toure, I think we should pay you some more’, we were actually right.

Club should put it a statement denying this and saying Haaland is on 2m a week but most of it off the books via a Cayman Islands acct, just to boil piss.
