What an absolute pile of fucking nonsense that’s got fuck all to do with the one main issue he glosses over. Those clubs were run terribly, certainly Oldham Athletic were. World class clubs? You just need to be bigger. If you’re at any of those clubs, Preston, Bolton, Blackburn, Blackpool, Wigan are all bigger. You’d think the two Manchester and Scouse clubs with their academies should be rich pickings with the cast off’s so surely they’re more of a benefit. Crewe and Oldham did well for a period in their histories with that tactic when they were better run.

Some people just trot out any tired old shit to suit their narrative.
Teams' fortunes will always fluctuate.
Look at Stockport County and their recent upturn. Hopefully they will get promotion to League 1, as their crowds are high for League 2.
Oldham Athletic definitely over-achieved under Joe Royle. They also had an excellent youth recruitment team under Jim Cassell, many years ago. What went wrong there (apart from City poaching him and others) ?
Bury, unfortunately, is a smallish town with Bolton Wanderers very close. They need to merge the 2 new teams if they have any chance of regaining League status.
Don't know much about Rochdale, but hope all 3 can get back into the League...

It's bullshit, half the National League is full of teams that used to be in the top 4 divisions from all over the country. The real truth is that removing the election process to the leagues and replacing it with a promotion/relegation system is the cause, it's just that some people still have this mindset of a pre-1987 fixed top 4 divisions and find it odd to see clubs that have had a safety net in place for 75+ years in such a position. The other side of the coin is that successfully run smaller clubs can rise the pyramid and that has improved the game lower down the structure because investors see a reason to make the risks.

Ha ha please tell me that person isn't a paid journalist? How about when the rags and dippers were winning all the trophies and hoovering up all the local talent, including Giggs who they bribed to steal him from ourselves.

Football is an entertainment business and competitive. Unless you are born loyal to one of those local clubs what do you do? Go and watch Oldham play crap football in a shit stadium or watch the best footballers in world football? It's a no brainer. How does he think the rags and dippers built up a huge worldwide following? I have never heard of this **** but nowadays anybody can pop up online calling themselves a journalist and spout utter shite to the world.

Spot on... It also needs looking at in a historical context. Football was the working man's game - it's rise to popularity was due to workers being given saturday afternoons off. Teams from Mill towns like Rochdale, Oldham etc. drew massive crowds - more than some Premier League teams get now!
However, with the closing of the Mills it was a downward spiral. Wrexham had the same problem with the mines closing, but not everyone will get bought by millionaire actors (or Sheikhs).

The narrative has already been written

We will read this constantly from the Rag infested football media up to the FA Cup Final and after it, especially if the Rags beat City and deny City the treble. Arsenal and Real Madrid can deny City the treble before we play the Rags.

To be honest it’s all already sickening the fawning that’s going on over United after their stuffy win against Brighton. Some of the articles, which I won’t post, are absolutely laughable and child like. And just for good Rag football media measure, United have made a move for Harry Kane (again) for next season.

It's the fawning over them that gts me, we know why they do it, for commercial advantage all the arm chair Home Counties United fans need their football ego's tickerling, but it does got on your nerves and I am sure we are not the only ones who find it annoying, and unreadable

The negative way we are covered in the media looks stranger by the day. But I don't think it reflects the majority view of other football fans. During my various travels round London over the weekend I bumped into lots of rival fans including Sheffield United, Palace, Milllwall, and West Ham fans. Not a single one mentioned Arab oil money or cheating. The Millwall and West Ham fans said they were delighted by our success because they hate United, Arsenal, but, most of all, Liverpool fans. The Blades' fans said they loved our football and loved Tommy Doyle and James McAtee. I know there were a few young knobheaads knocking about after the match slagging us off but they really were a tiny minority of their mostly great fanbase. Sometimes it is easy to forget how much the media is out of touch with public opinion in this country.
Most rival fans on away days that don't.follow the rags dippers or arselona are.the same with us and don't follow the narrative and don't begrudge us our success
