Even if the mail wasn't pure shite journalistically, I still wouldn't use their site anymore due to the ridiculous amount of adverts all over it. Same as the MUEN. Why not just subscribe to The Athletic instead? Oh wait........

Best just not read anything for now
Use Firefox + ublock on all of your devices. You'll never see another advert!

It's bollocks to suggest De Bruyne hasn't had defining moments. Gerrard had plenty of positive defining moments. His goal to equalise against West Ham, his goal in the CL final where he stepped it up. He was a fantastic player and would have won more in a better side but decided to stay with Liverpool. I wouldn't suggest he wasn't a fantastic player. It will always be that De Bruyne was only good because of who he played with and Gerrard didn't win the league because of who he played with. De Bruyne is better and more consistent in my opinion, but that's probably a City bias. It would have been great watching them at their peaks playing against each other!
Winning a hatful of Premier League titles is all the ‘defining moments’ KDB needs. Unlike Gerrard who never won a single one in his whole career. KDB’s pass to Gundogan for the third goal against Villa to win the title last season was a pretty defining moment for me as well.

For me this was his defining moment/pass. He won the ball, controlled it, and then passed it, to Sane.

I always thought was/is exceptional

For me he has one of greatest players we are lucky enough to watch and support, whether we win the Chumps League or not

I was sat on the second tier of the east stand (not the posh seats, I may add) in line with the edge of the area. A perfect view.

He didn't thump it, or welly it, or cross it, but passed it with superb pace and precision across the grass for about 40 yards.

The guy is peerless as a midfielder, and he is our midfielder

I was in the CB3 and had a great view of it also.....one thing that still stands out from the pass was the reaction around me......there were gasps because not one single person in the ground saw that pass coming...........well all except one that is......Kevin!

Would KdB scoring v West Ham (or *checks notes* Olympiakos, was it?) be considered a defining moment? I doubt it.
It says something about Gerrard that his most fruitful season was played on the wing - because he couldn't dislodge Alonso and Sissoko.

Please remember in fighting for a place a Spanish midfield with Alonso, Fabregas, Xavi and Inesta, our own David Silva got more caps, assists and (I think) goals than any of Gerrard, Scholes or Lampard did with England. (And won rather more than the so-called golden generation too). Yet, Silva never got the accolades Gerrard did (and still does).

The excuse about KdB doing it because of only doing it because of the team he was surrounded by (not saying you're promoting it btw) is utter rubbish. Torres, Hamann, Carragher, Sterling, Suarez.... all fine players. In any event, Gerrard had the opportunity to move to a club with a proper winning mentality and - like all if his Premier League campaigns - he bottled that too.
A very, very good player. No argument there. Clearly not as good as the Scousers think though.
Love paragraph 2 matey, still giggle at Steve on his arse ( childish I know ) but hey ho !
