Some dick head journalist in the Telegraph has done a piece supposedly about how a new rag owner is sat on a goldmine. The land the rags own, plus other land, is ripe for houses. The journo is however quick to point out, in fact he spends most of the article slagging how City and Manchester City Council did it. It borders on saying it was corrupt, no social housing, ADUG made millions but Manchester lost millions. Here's me thinking the council loved what City did, how could I be so wrong.
The RDAHMeedya are the only ones who have a handle on what is accurate, fair, wholesome, trustworthy and beyond reproach. The rest of us should be prosecuted for money-laundering whenever we buy any MCFC stuff!

exactly what land do Utd own...if it's carrington, then good luck getting planning down there, green belt with an oil refinery next door....littleton road and the cliff are on the flood plain...and Old Trafford is on contaminated land.
City took derelict land and turned it into sports facilities...why would they offer social housing as an option?...not sure how Mcr lost millions...

I think the Rags own the cargo facility next door. Contamination is not the issue. Trafford Park is a huge employment zone, and council planners are usually reluctant to consent to a resi change of use if it would result in a loss of employment. However, this is the Rags, so no doubt the planners would bend over, lube up and roll over to whatever application was submitted.

strangely enough, they don't have that good a relationship with Trafford Council. they (utd) objected to Hotel Football and it was waved thru ....also a very poor history of paying rates and taxes.

There was a thread on it last year named “Manchester sold itself to Abu Dhabi elite - Guardian article”. Neither ADUG nor the Council came out of it smelling of violets…..
