You are correct that the overall tone of football coverage in the tabloids is negative (not just to City.) It's strange that the PL is the best sports league in the world, watched by billions globally. It's fantastic commercially for many thousands of people in the media and is loved by fans. But so many media outlets are always looking for negative angles. It's a very distorted view of our national game.

You do wonder how much of it is the media setting the agenda or the media reacting to the psyche of people who love to hear bad about others. When its not football its negative angles and articles about celebrities, tv stars etc. Just relentless.

There is certainly some truth in that. We are a nation who enjoys seeing people dragged down a peg or two. Let's be honest the comments on here (including my own) can be on the negative side...though I do try to correct myself from time to time!
