The Guardian's motto is "Comment is free, but facts are sacred". Should amend that to "Comments aren't allowed and the facts are whatever we say they are, whether they're true or not".

The Guardian has a clear editorial stance with regard to City and is rigorous in shoehorning it into every piece on us, no matter how tangential or irrelevant. To that end, the notion that City are "sportswashing" is presented as unimpeachable fact.

In truth, it's contentious at best, promulgated by purported experts with a manifest self-interest in doing so. And no one has yet evinced a persuasive theory as to why the UAE should feel itself constrained to pursue such a strategy to win the hearts and minds of the public when it already manages to construct lucrative, cordial relationships with all types of countries across the globe.

TL,DR - see the message I quoted from @Prestwich_Blue.

5 live going full Alan Partridge …. “From 9pm attention turns to the NFL as myself and Vernon Kay talk all things American football”

Why is it?

He's a fascist.

Come downstairs to the US politics thread and debate it down there.

We'll keep this thread talking about media bias and hypocrisy.
Somebody throwing the word fascist around so lightly doesn’t make me think it would be a rewarding debate for me to enter into so I’ll leave you to it

Come down stairs explain to me why you think I'm wrong?

Look forward to the debate.

Back on topic:

Posters in this thread quite right to point out the hypocrisy of some client journalists who seem to use sportswashing as a way to grease their own palms whilst ignoring issues they accuse Arab states of in the western world.

The FA have appealed Klopps fine and want a ban.

Still gets sympathetic BBC press about it. Not seen the SSN yellow ticker constantly running it either.
