What the guy said about carbon neutrality was spot on. This World Cup is only carbon neutral because Qatar are offsetting their production of carbon emissions. Offsetting is basically kicking the can down the road and doesn't work in real terms.
And offsetting has been proved in some cases to be a pile of crap - some of the companies behind offsetting have been found to be lacking in delivering on what has been promised. We should be concentrating on reducing carbon, not offsetting.

That's exactly what will happen with Qatar, which is what the bloke on the BBC was alluding to.

It just seems the BBC are recruiting more hatred in this country towards the Middle East.
It will probably be at boiling point just in time for the Premier league restart with City and Newcastle being in the line of fire from media and fans alike.
That's the method in their madness. Set the anti Arab agenda then push it and work it for it is worth. By the end of the tournament anything remotely Arab / Muslim is bad. Therefore ourselves and Newcastle are bad and demonised by the average numbskull 'football fan'. We can win all we like on the pitch but the BBC and the MSM are making damn sure we don't win off the pitch - and doing a pretty good job at it if we are honest.

Marcus had to be mentioned.

Taken from the BBC Webpage after the final whistle..........notice the omission.
  1. RESULT: England 6-2 Iran - Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka (2), Raheem Sterling and substitute Marcus Rashford put England in control.
  2. Iran reduce deficit in second half before being awarded penalty by VAR
  3. Iran keeper Beiranvand taken off after head injury in first half
It's so obvious the redtops are in control at our national broadcaster.

The World Cup reporting is hysterical. Good time for the Government. Keep the cost of living and the economical collapse out of the headlines. Instead let’s all argue over beer!

football should have nothing to do with politics.

The narrative and agenda is set. Now we all have to listen and watch it play out.

Main point is that Qatar should not have had a World Cup. Similarly, Mansour should not have purchased City. Proceed now to finding any negative angle and ram it down peoples throats until it becomes media law. It’s all going to be ok though as America has it next. The greatest human rights country the world has ever seen.

History is littered with unspeakable inhuman acts. Today is no different. Russian is a perfect example of this. It will never end. We have all been conditioned to think and act in a certain way depending on the country we were born into. The script is set. Nothing more than a different form of religion. #Brainwashing
Our media tell us that Russians are being brainwashed by state controlled media there. Unfortunately it has crept into our own media. I think there are many who have not noticed it. The real power in this country lies with the media moguls not the politicians.

I noticed there was no mention of Grealish on their homepage after the match.

Least they tweeted about his celebration.

I just love the fact they can't bring themselves to write about us.

The sting they must feel whenever they think of us must reverberate around them like an electric shock.

These supposed 'big' media outlets acting like proper mardarses is an absolute joy.

More, I want to see more pain.

They love City more 'n I love the BBC.

That’s how I see it. Freedom for the law abiding citizens.

Is this a serious post?

Freedom for the law abiding citizens...leaving out the fact that things like being gay, or being raped, sex before marriage, or a woman going to work without permission of her husband, kissing in public, Apostasy, or criticising the government are all illegal.

You can point to inconsistencies in the coverage of human rights abuses in the west vs. middle east, but when you're espousing the freedom of one of most restrictive regimes in the world, you probably need to reconsider what you're doing.

Do you really want "stick it to the media" by singing the praises of government crime rate statistics from a country where women don't make rape allegations because if they do, they get imprisoned for extra- or premarital sex?

Some incredibly fair points & I didn’t say it was a perfect utopia. Some important issues need to change & they will.

Having spent quite a bit of time in UAE with my wife before we had kids we didn’t find it restrictive. Importantly, she didn’t find it restrictive whilst working & living there. We did feel incredibly safe but again we aren’t from a marginalised community.

I think when we discuss the freedom of protest then you need to consider the powder keg that the Middle East is.
