I must say looking at the two badges, our ship looks much classier than the rag's shit (I mean ship)
I am not saying that City owners are perfect. I am not saying that questions can’t be asked about aspects of our ownership. It's worth a read. People on here are being hypersensitive, it's not really about City, it's not demanding change or presenting just 1 point of view, it's just about remembering the history behind the symbols we use.
I'm happy that the ship represents the ships that brought my family from Ireland to Manchester in the 1840s. They lived in a basement hovel around sudehill and were employed in the textile industry in conditions that would now be called slavery.
Despite this i can cope with the club badge as is, and even the rag one with its depiction of Beelzebub. Good luck to the guardian with their book burning crusade.
But it has the line that 'some City fans think Ederson is the weak link "The Ederson piece is a misleading headline, but the piece is in the name of Karen Bardsley, and it largely defends Ederson and explains that the bare stats don't tell the whole story.
Im happy to be corrected on that, I could have done my research though! If I remember the tour guide on the rainy windy mersey boat trip when I was in year 9, the liver bird is from the middle ages.
No one's burning any books, no one's demanding any changes, no one is suggesting we get ladders and a chisel and go around chipping the ship off every building, no one is going after the club.
NH & MD are part of the Goofycracy
Serious question why is there so much hatred for us in general? Media especially... Look at the good our owners have done. Transformed east Manchester, tranformed our club and actually care about our club... Our club does plenty in the community, play the best football England has ever seen.... I could go on and on about the good points. Yet we are lambasted consistently in the media and by majority of other fans it's actually sad to see
I enjoyed reading that tbf, I thought (although as somebody mentioned, you can take most things and lead it in the direction of slavery etc) it was a good article.![]()
Abandon ship: does this symbol of slavery shame Manchester and its football clubs?
A three-masted vessel adorns the city’s buildings and both teams’ crests. But is it an emblem of a crime against humanity?www.theguardian.com
x 1000. I do not think and have never thought, that the ship on our badge was anything to do with anything other than the fact that the ship canal was built around that time. As far as I am concerned that remains the same. JMHOIt's our badge , so f#£%^ off!
That sounds like a fairly well justified article to be honestCan’t wait for his follow up highlighting a certain red devil and all the anti-christ, evil connotations involved in that. Pathetic.
The time to react is not at the end, but at the beginning.
Top quality golf course thoughIf he thinks that’s bad, he should Google ‘Stockport Golf Club Badge’ then click images
Must be the most racist club badge in the world. Gobsmacked they’ve not been made to change it
Don't read it anymore. I realised that every article in that paper whatever the subject, is written so that it triggers the reader. It's no wonder there are so many hateful people out there.I’d suggest giving the Fail a miss - it will improve the quality of your life….
Immaculate timing release of an interesting piece , but loaded with negatives, as ever…
Also, he touches on Plymouth also having a ship on their badge ‘celebrating’ the Mayflower and pilgrims, but entirely misses pointing out the issue of commemorating the radical religious intolerants it was carrying to find a new home where they could impose their draconian religious way of living, without ‘interference’.
This is basically my view, i am always suspicious of seemingly objective pieces from an organisation that has been part of an orchestrated smear campaign against our club for many years.I am not saying that City owners are perfect. I am not saying that questions can’t be asked about aspects of our ownership.
But there has been an unrelenting attempt in the media to smear the club and this has culminated in the hypocrisy of us being taken to court. And the Guardian has been part of this. A Manchester paper!!
I can only speak for myself and say yes I am sensitive. Doesn’t mean the article is wrong but it’s written for an organisation that is trying to damage us. So they don’t get the benefit of the doubt.
Why did I read that in a Peter griffin voice?I saw that.
It's something along the lines of....
"Dear readers,
Yes Man City have a three goal lead going to Munich, but there's still hope that the sports washing cheating bastards will get thumped by plucky underdogs Workers Collective Bayern FC. And why? Coz here are some random examples from the past when similar healthy leads were overturned! So be of good cheer! There's still a chance they'll get fucked over and football will be saved".
