fever-sexy-police-lady-404-p.jpg
I'll be ready!
Haha.

there's no need to be rude to me.
i'm only being daft.

this is off topic,
as such there are grammar wankers.
i am one of them.
we are here to help.

i don't know why folk get surprised when a grammar wanker acts like a grammar wanker.
it's what we do.

it's akin to when folk are surprised that a warmonger starts a war.
it's what they do.

I apologise then

exactly.

the person you meet is not random.
the meeting is random.

"randomly meeting interesting people"
You're wrong Callum luvvy!!

A random person" generally refers to someone who is not known, easily identifiable, or seems out of place in a particular situation. It can also mean someone who is not part of a pre-existing group or context. In essence, it describes an individual who appears unexpectedly or without clear connection to the current setting.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Unknown or Unidentified:
The term "random person" often implies that the individual is not someone the speaker recognizes or has a relationship with.
  • Unexpected or Unprompted:
When someone is described as "random," it can suggest their presence or actions are not anticipated or seem out of place.

oh bill, bill, bill. darling.
what trouble you are in...

firstly,
there's still only one l in calum.
i swear you do it just to feel my wrath ;)

secondly,
i am not wrong.

be honest.
you googled summat like
"random person meaning",
didn't you?

i'm not going to do likewise but i'll happily bet a pound to a penny that the nonsense you cut+pasted was the a.i. response.

let's be clear about this.
a.i. is fucking wank.
all it does is scan through loads of stuff.

in this case it will have seen lots of cases of incorrect grammar and regurgitated it.

"random person" is a grammatically incorrect americanisation that has been picked up by the rest of the world.

just because a lot of people say something does not make it true.

a person cannot be random.

thirdly,
are you at home or gallivanting?
i'll have a chat with the grammar girls and see which of them are happy to travel half way round the world to punish you.
i'm sure at least 2 of them will volunteer for the job.

I meet loads of strangers all the time.
Had a guy in the shop last week telling about his time as a copper in SA, then down the mines, then getting locked up in Middle east for brewing hooch.
One day they put a young lad in his cell who was adamant that he would be out in a day or two. When he found out my guy was from Manchester ha told him he'd get him out as well. Two days later they both get released and picked up in a limo. Turns out the young lads dad was very high up in the security force and used to live in manchester in his youth.

What I posted was copied from AI.
Mainly because I couldn't be arsed typing all that on my phone.
But I knew before that that a random person is a totally valid expression.

And @Blue Maverick was correct.

From Oxford English dictionary:
(See 3).

1 lacking any definite plan or prearranged order; haphazard
a random selection

2. statistics
a. having a value which cannot be determined but only described probabilistically
a random variable

b. chosen without regard to any characteristics of the individual members of the population so that each has an equal chance of being selected
random sampling

3. informal
(of a person) unknown
some random guy waiting for a bus

are you drunk?

the above is definitely not from the oxford english dictionary.

edit:
and even if it was,
the acceptance of americanisms into the english language will never be tolerated by grammar wankers.

Now do the definition for "pedant", please.
is it?..

pedant: noun.
some **** on a footy forum overly concerned with the correctness of details, especially in academic matters, who somehow gets away with posting pics of sexy policewomen in their undergarments.

etymology:
likely from the italian pedante meaning teacher.
