Meeting Re: Atmosphere

It's a dodgy one moving fans up to the 3rd tier though as half of our atmosphere comes from 'banter' (hate that word) with the opposing fans.

Yeah, I agree that's a genuine risk. I think particularly on European nights the away fans have contributed greatly to the overall atmosphere, and we'll lose that with them being in the 3rd tier. Villareal were never going to bring many down, so it won't be a big factor for this particular game, but moving forward it remains to be seen how having the away fans up in the gods will affect the atmosphere.

A question...

I've never been to St James Park...but isn't it true that the away fans are miles away there?

What is the home atmosphere like there?

The atmosphere took a huge knock when the North Stand was evicted to make room for the "future of the club"...

The atmosphere was shite before then too.

So basically, if everyone wants it to be permanent, sing your fucking bollocks off v Villareal. I just hope that everyone can find a way to let all their inhibitions go, like at the Hamburg game. That's one of the few times we've actually sung at home when losing a game (sad but true), and it nearly produced an amazing comeback. We don't need the away fans to be next to us to sing, it's no excuse. There are plenty of grounds around Europe where away fans are up in the Gods, yet the atmospere is fantastic.

My guess is they will move the away fans to level 3 east stand. It would involve them having sole use of the spiral at that end to give them access to the away car park.

I thang you.......anyone want next weeks lottery numbers

Yes, used to be in the corner, with home fans alongside on both sides in the same tier. Last season IIRC they moved us around to the end, in the other corner with home fans along the side. Maybe down to home ticket demand?

Atmosphere is always lively at St James'. The roof has great acoustics though. Only bettered by PNE.

After my recent fiasco of getting into the ground to my own seat, the word relocate and the thought of using a different turnstile with my card makes me shudder. Hope the clutch is fully down and the turnstiles are in freewheel for the night. GOOD LUCK!
If i was a steward reading this thread i'd be jacking now!
