Melbourne City FC Thread

Re: MCFC buy Melbourne Heart FC (merged)

I'd go for Mark Mark Schwarzer as captain and marquee signing. It'll bring good publicity if have Aussie legends playing for us.

Re: MCFC buy Melbourne Heart FC (merged)

I'll support them when we claim back the ashes until then fuck em.

Re: MCFC buy Melbourne Heart FC (merged)

Gee we have come a long way. It’s been a great day being a blue in this part of the world, watching Fox sports break the news down under.

Fox sports commentator/analyst Simon Hill (City through and through), was like the cat with the cream; interviewing Txiki, Ferran Soriano and Brian Marwood.

Among the quotes flying around; included “City a modern day powerhouse in world football”. Another was “Potential overseas goliath”. Football Federation Australia (FFA) – CEO – David Gallop – “A huge club like Man City”. I think the only one that I didn’t hear; but was waiting for was ‘Massive’.

David Gallop mentioned that negotiations had started between City and the FFA about a year ago. When questioned about changing the name of Melbourne Heart and the team colours. He stated that this could be possible; but that any hurdles will have to be met one at a time.

Ferran said that Melbourne was attractive for City; as it was known as Australia’s sporting capital; that the Heart was a Football Club that met its components for potential and growth. Melbourne was a City with 4 million people, many of who liked football; but who didn’t have a team to follow.

He stated that City; were attracted to this league because it was solid, organised with lots of potential. He said the only advantage that Heart would have over the others in the league; was that it would have the use of global resources belonging to City. Staff would benefit in the same way that NYMCFC will, visiting the UK. This may have been stated as there is a salary cap in the A league.

Txiki said that the club would like to start an academy over here; that all the teams will train and learn to play the same way. That the people in Melbourne; will love the Football. That coaching staff, sports science staff would all have access to training in the UK. Melbourne Heart had recently appointed a new coach; who is Dutch. Txiki said that was a good thing. The Dutch like to play football; went on to talk about the Dutch influence in the Barcelona Management with Cruff and Rijkard.

The Melbourne Storm; among the country’s leading NRL (Rugby League) sides here in Oz. Top Team. But competing against AFL (Aussie Rules Football).

Petrusha is correct in stating that Kevin Muscat is the manager of the Heart’s rivals Melbourne Victory. The same ex Millwall and Wolves fullback; a leopard never changes its spots. Be glad that he will get shown up for the cock he is.

This news today; seems to have been well received by all over here, saying what a good thing it will be for the A league, to have a big club like English premier Manchester City on board.

Looking forward to the Etihad Manchester pre-season tournament when all the MCFC clubs play against each other. One day, hopefully soon, they will all be champions of their respective leagues including the ladies Then the sheikh may get bored: NOT

He'd just turn us down again and sign for Newcastle or something like that.

This news is quite excellent!

How long before we see a Club World Cup composed of City teams only? What a day that'd be!
