Maroon and Sky blue stripes?

Or would that be a fashion crime?

I read the majority of the takeover thread on their forum and got a general impression of their fans. One thing that struck me was that they were pretty much all in agreement about changing the name, but not the colours. It seemed a bit strange that they're all so happy to just bin the name but feel so passionately about the kit. If any Heart fans can shed any light on here it would be nice.

Most of us were in favour of a name change to a more traditional football club name. However, our fans love the red and white stripes and we'd hate to share a similar colour to Melbourne Victory and the same colour as Sydney FC. Probably also the mindset from growing up with Aussie Rules, where great pride is shown in the club colours. Also, back in the 90's when my AFL team, the Western Bulldogs rebranded from the previous name Footscray, we kept our club colours Red, White and Blue.

Also try to imagine the situation where your new owners came to your club and attempted to change your kits to red albeit a slightly different shade to Manchester United, I dare say many of you guys would be in favour of that.

The way I looked at it is that Royal and Sky blue are two completely different colours, although I can see why you'd have issue with changing it. Our club did change its colours in the early stage but of course after 100 or so years of playing in sky blue it would be a bit of a different situation. As I say I understand any clubs reluctance to change colours but I thought it would be the exact same with the name too. Seems a bit of a double standard.

Re: MCFC buy Melbourne Heart FC (merged)

their away kit is white with a red diagonal stripe, and their third kit is black, so combine the two and they can use our white with red and black diagonal stripe as home kit, and the away could feature purple, sky blue and say white or yellow and be a sort of combination of Melbourne Storm and City, maybe even slightly modify it to maroon or something like that.

Paper is wrong. City bought Melbourne, not Sheikh Mansour

Don't let the truth get in the way of a great story :/
either way the future is bright, for all 3 clubs. loved a post on their forum about a possible scenario where we get nycfc vs mhfc in the club world championship semi for the right to play city in the final, made me smile that one.
