Melbourne City FC Thread

Re: MCFC buy Melbourne Heart FC (merged)

Our Melbourne brethren seem very keen on keeping the red and white, which I completely get, I'd be furious if someone wanted to change our kit but I think in a few years that might have to change. I would imagine the 'City football group' will want a unified brand, hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

So as you probably know us heart fans are in love with this move, some things you need to know and my views
we arnt a very big club due to the fact the melbourne victory was a foundation club that had monopoly of the soccer market for 5 years, most if not all Melbournians, if not attending games or following religiously, sided with them.
they have 22,000 season ticket holders we have 7000
We have built a strong financial base that has been producing profits, one of the only clubs here to do so.
We have horrible facilities, worst in the league, and there is little to no room of a 'new' ground so to speak to be built in the melbourne city, would have to be 12km+ outside of city central, but i can see our facilities being built real soon.

My personal views, this is the best news I could have imagined, PROVEN football owners who know what they are doing.
Im 100% behind the change of name to melbourne city FC, as although the heart grew on me it is childish, im under the impression the name will be changed no ifs no buts. We can still be nicknamed 'the heart(s)' just like newcastle are the magpies etc.
Im however more reluctant on the colour change to our home strip, maybe blue and white strips will do, i dont mind as any measure needed to be shaped to help us grow im all for, but we dont have a huge supporter base so changing of colours could turn a high % of our people away.

I think we will remain red and white for our home strip but significantly change our away strip

That being said, i cannot thank the owners enough for this.....
I dont follow a team in the EPL but i do own a aguero top!

You do now!

we could just tone down the red and have blue in the crest? their fans should have the final say in any case, its their club.

I agree, I just don't see how it works from a branding perspective. I suspect that's why they tried Sydney first.

I think it'll be more to do with the crest and insignia than club colours, that crest above might be a piss take but it could be along the right path.
