Memory is going...!

We’ve had many games postponed ( called off before they start )

Abandoned means it started but didn’t finish. Did your fog game actually start? I’m interested in what game it was either way because I don’t recall it.
I would think it would be mid to late 70s, we were living in Shropshire & a couple of mates had tagged along with me & my dad, glorious sunny weather all the way until we got to manchester, we walked to the ground at around 1.30 & people were walking away saying it had been called off, so we went off to the sports depo up the road & as I remember come 3oclock the sun was shining but the game was still off,
Sadly I cant remember who it was against?

Just checked the other Ipswich game that was called off. Worthington Cup (League Cup) Quarter Final in 2000, 1:1 at the time.
Looking at the photos it looks a little 'damp.

I was at that, we walked across from The Parkside pub, and the road was about 1 foot deep in water, amazed it started at all as the pitch was similar when we got inside, though the rain eased, it was farcical. Pretty sure the kippax had it's roof by then though.

Looks like you have your answer though.

This was possibly it ?
It was a dire evening game when it was raining / sleeting. Mark Robins scored the only goal after a back pass got stuck in a puddle ?
That was a long journey home, that night…although was it Cantona’s Hong Kong Phooey night too ?
That's the one! Thank you, yes confusion reigned there

That game should never have started. The pitch was waterlogged and the rain was so heavy that fans in the first dozen rows of the North Stand all scuttled off to stand at the back. As I recall Ipswich went ahead by a goal caused by the atrocious conditions with the ball sticking in the puddles and catching City's defence out. Can't remember who the ref was but as soon as City equalised he abandoned the game. It looked to me like he knew he fecked up big time by not postponing it in the first place.
