Men in Black

That was more or less the uniform when I worked on the building sites in the late 70s early 80s,
Wooly / Beanie hat, Black donkey jacket, Jeans & either Dealer Boots or Doc Martins, non of this colourful hi viz stuff or helmets, gloves, safety glasses, ear defenders etc etc :-)
I wasn't on a building site; I was a farmer.

The original idea was it makes it harder for police surveillance to keep putting the same person at the scene of disorder throughout the day if they’re not wearing distinctive clothing.

Can’t remember when it started. Probably late 90s or early 00s.
Definitely in today's cctv everywhere world we live in. It wouldn't be a good idea wearing a bright yellow pringle jumper and causingcausing trouble.
Plus They think it makes them look well hard. LOL

I remember a big mob of Utd went to Upton Park probably late 80’s
head to toe in Black.
Balaclavas also iirc.
I was scrapping with about 20 Rags at Maine Road outside the turnstiles at the Goater scored a brace game. So it's been a trend for years now.CTID
