It's time we hard a hard look at our recruitment policy. No point in buying world's best players if they cant be accomodated into the team. Ranieri says he doesnt want superstars but wants players of

the only good thing about this shit season is that Guardiola & the board will know the useless players bought since 2012. the calamity defending style since Pellegrini got the team.
Gaurdiola has a lot of work to do if doesnt want to tarnish his reputation and it start by doing a purge like the stalinist one :) buy top top players and no room for sentiments. the deep in form was since the 10th game of the season but we kept deluding ourselves and blaming luck and injuries.

We have 3 world class players - Aguero, KDB and Hart (just). Sad but true. Perhaps we did quite well getting to the CL semis! The rest are not good enough. Bring on the cull!

You mean other than hitting the post and Aguero's shot? I think everyone is forgetting a sub-par City team, missing Kompany, Silva, Toure and with KDB playing poorly, went to Real Madrid (where they were 18-0 this season in the CL) and didn't do what everybody else didn't do this season. Is that it???One goal we never looked like getting at any stage of the 180. Or 270 or 360 for that matter. There is no handwaving away such a shocking display.
Fuck me! Get to within one goal of the CL Final and everyone is moaning like they are fucking entitled Rags!
Did the team play brilliantly? No. Did they give it all their effort? yes. Did it work? Not quite.

Well, I guess you are getting your wish then. The manager has a specific style of play, which the team has played for three seasons, but this season our THREE creative sparks have been found wanting. Toure has shown his age, Silva has been persistently hobbled by his ankle, and Nasri just came back from a serious injury. Throw in the lack of out put from Navas and Sterling, neither of whom has prospered under the managers style of play, and there you have it.It's got nothing to do with the Madrid game.
Our lack of enthusiasm and energy has been there for ages...
I would say there are a handful of games this season where we have played to our full potential.
There are clearly far too many passengers in our squad living far too comfortable an existence thanks to a lack of motivation and no fear of the consequences of failure/underachievement.
The manager is 100% responsible for that.

It's not only mentality, it's fitness too. Two Ferns were outstanding in first half today, they were everywhere. Now I understand that they are humans too but I can not accept it as normal than for second game in a row our midfield disappears on the beginning of the second half. It was same at Madrid (and similar, maybe bit later at home vs Real). You don't see that at other top teams who play as much games as we do and even harder pressure, it's the fitness problem and there should be no fitness problems at this level, managerial team makes mistakes somewhere, our players are not fit enough and can't play the whole game at high intensity.

If you find that performance and the likelihood we will be in the Europa acceptable then good for you. There was not an ounce of fight and yea, after all the money we've spent I do expect more from our players. Particularly as its now been demonstrated what can be done with good management and team spirit.

I I found nothing of the sort, but I also have some perspective. If you think Leicester is a lesson to the rest of the league, then I can't help you. A few players had worldies this season, good for them. I guess that makes Spurs, Arsenal, City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea all mug teams? Those six teams are the cream of the English game and they ALL came up losers to a hard working team with no superstars....and that has happened once in the history of the premier league. I wouldn't plant your flag on that comparison.
And, whenever I hear the words "with all the money we've spent," I generally close my ears to the rest. It is a nothing statement. We have had to pay over the odds for players in order to attract the best talent possible to a perennial second tier team to make it a top four contender every season. Now, we are going to have to pay it to bring truly world class players to the club...just like everyone else in the top leagues of the world has had to do! In some leagues, there are only a handful of clubs who can afford to do it, and they are always the top 2 or 3. In England, we have a "Top Six" (see above) and this year Leicester (and even West Ham to a certain extent) have crashed the party. However, expect four out of those six every year for the foreseeable future, which means two top teams are going to miss out on the CL every year, and maybe three if English teams don't start to do better in the competition.

Yea, they all came second to a cheap, well managed and motivated team. That's a lesson in scouting, training and motivation we can all learn from. And if you don't think there's a lesson in their achievement, if only in getting a manager who has a clue, then in turn I can't help you. And too right I expect expensive and highly paid stars to make an effort. Which ours rarely have.

It's disappointing but ultimately any CL-level team that doesn't win the CL or their domestic league will be deemed to have had a "Disappointing" season, isn't that right, Pep? Money doesn't come into it, all the CL squads are expensive and yet only one wins every year. Semis is not bad, further than Barca, for a squad whose best defender, midfielder and striker have all been out injured for large parts of the season. If we could field our best players week-in, week-out, we'd be in a better position.
Which is the difference with Leicester. Their key players have been fit all season and/because they have played less matches. I believe they'll struggle without Mahrez or Kante doing the business. Good luck to 'em but staying top 1 or 2 in the PL whilst running an effective CL campaign is very difficult these days and I suspect going forward, they, like us, must deal.

Humility is one thing, but just ignoring the blatant is another. While I definitely agree with some things you have pointed out, I can't find myself to see the plus side. The players you mentioned that were missing, except KDB, are all Mancini era players. Yes they are world class and could get into most teams but Pelle was charged with taking us to the next level, and over the last 3 years we have still been reliant on the 2011 core team to do anything otherwise we fail. Whether it is completely down to Pelle or not isn't really the point, we have gone backwards as a team and the most amazing thing was that we even made it to a semi rather than where we were hoping we would be with Pelle after 3yrs, expecting a semi final and looking like we could win it. we didn't go out to win it, whats the point of getting to that one final game to get into a final if you don't believe or go for the win? There's no self entitlement here, well not on my part anyway, it's just a realization that Pelle has not been success, the initial cup win and league win (which had a lot of luck, as did Mancini's obviously) were not built upon just like what happened after Mancini's league win. It does seem like we have been gearing up for Pep these last 3 yrs, but that may have been to the detriment of the short term..You mean other than hitting the post and Aguero's shot? That was the Schalke performance last season in the round of 16 against Real Madrid. They lost at home 0:2 and were just inches away from getting into the quarter final...
With a couple of 18 and 19 year olds...
Yep and i suppose we could add Athletico Madrid to the list too. Is it crazy to say we have a comparable first 11 to them? But do we have the desire and tactics to match their performance against two clearly better technical sides, don't think so. They were perennial under achievers till Simeone took over, having not won the league for a long time. But he changed that mentality, he has taken them to world beaters in 3 seasons(?) and that while even losing his better players.
