While i would love for us to go and win tomorrow , Mancinis instructions are to finish in the top 4 not win the title. So i think Mancini will set us up to get a point.

And your evidence for this is?

Setting us up to get a point might also be the best way to set us up to get a win

His evidence is the fact that it is repeated like a mantra on here.

None of us know Mancini's true target for this season, we're all guessing.

Well , that is the general consensus regarding the boards instructions to Mancini. Do you have any evidence that says otherwise?

Read Dave's post above.

I'm not 'claiming' to know the real target unlike you. The general consensus means fuck all. The 'general consensus' on here during the first quarter of the season, appeared to be suggesting that we should be playing Milner on the right before Adam Johnson. So if it's okay with you, Ill wipe my arse with whatever that term actually means.

In terms of your question. I don't have evidence the target isnt top 4, but I 'suspect' from using a bit of logic, intuition, that we haven't targetting one place higher than last season with further significant investment in the summer, or if we have, I again suspect, it's 'set the bar higher and 4th at the very minimum should things not work out'. Furthermore, I have read quotes from players this season, Toure, Kolarov, who all mention 'the title', thus someone in house is fucking talking about it. It's perception rather than fact yes, but I don't believe for one minute, that Mancini was told at the start of the season, another scrap for 4th as long as we get it will do. It's therefore important we don't get into a scrap for 4th, and stay where we have been for the most of the season, which is looking in front of us, rather than behind.

In that case, look at the significance of Utd beating us. It puts us much closer in context to Spurs, and Liverpool, than it does to Utd.

Fair enough. I stated my opinion and you stated yours, lets leave it at that.
