What is there to discuss? There's Maradona at the top, orbiting in a universe far, far away, millions of lightyears above the next universe, which is the one inhabited by Messi.
Maradona makes Voyager 2 seem close.

Playing for one team diminishes nothing.

He single handedly got Argentina to the 2014 World Cup final, he scored 3 winning goals and set up another winning goal in that tournament.

He’s scored 70 goals in 138 games for Argentina.

And no player in the history of the sport has been as good as Messi was in 2012. He scored 96 goals in that year. He was better in the early part of this decade than anyone has ever been.

Maradona scored 81 goals in 188 appearances for Napoli, the majority of them scored in Serie A when it was the best league in the world.

That's almost one in every two games for an unfashionable team against Italian defences, when attackers got far less protection than they do now.

Where Napoli was when he went there and they the league against all odds. Its like when we bought Kinkgladze and him single handedly turning the mentality of the club players around to being winners and winning the league! So still close call for me.
