Can he do it on a wet windy night in Stoke?
2 years ago, perhaps. But even though his goals and assists ratio is good, that's in large part to what is around him these days.
I think he's on the slide tbh. People will just remember what he did against us, but that was with 10 men. When we held it to 11 he was anonymous. It will be interesting to see the rest of their champs league campaign and how he goes against the big guns as I'm not sure whether what I see as a slide in his performance level is down to the tax case or age.
Still a great player, but at 120 mil I'm being extremely picky with those comments.
I would expect that he'd still be better than Silva and De Bruyne are now when he's 34. He'd still be our best player and the best player in the league as well, despite not being as good as he was.
The signing means so much more than that though. It's what it represents as a club. Signing arguably the greatest player in history from Barcelona. Younger players see that and want to be part of it. Millions of kids around the world see that and want to support City.
I don't think we need that anymore though. Look at the past year. Gundogan, Kev and Gabi Jesus were all wanted by the big guns, but chose City. Bravo left Barca for us. We are at their level, and all it now needs is for Aleix Garcia or one of the other academy lads to break in and become a bona fide superstar to lock down that younger generation.
At 120 mil I don't think we'd get value out of him now, on or off the field. Even if he knocks in 20 goals per year for the next 3 years. 2 years ago, it was a no brainer.
Well spotted.... :-)Wait... the word massive twice... ok. Fucking wum :-)
