Messi.....

2 years ago, perhaps. But even though his goals and assists ratio is good, that's in large part to what is around him these days.

I think he's on the slide tbh. People will just remember what he did against us, but that was with 10 men. When we held it to 11 he was anonymous. It will be interesting to see the rest of their champs league campaign and how he goes against the big guns as I'm not sure whether what I see as a slide in his performance level is down to the tax case or age.

Still a great player, but at 120 mil I'm being extremely picky with those comments.

I would expect that he'd still be better than Silva and De Bruyne are now when he's 34. He'd still be our best player and the best player in the league as well, despite not being as good as he was.

In 2016 he's got the most goals AND most assists in world football. That's not just because he has good players around him, it's because he's the best player in the world.

The signing means so much more than that though. It's what it represents as a club. Signing arguably the greatest player in history from Barcelona. Younger players see that and want to be part of it. Millions of kids around the world see that and want to support City.

I don't think we need that anymore though. Look at the past year. Gundogan, Kev and Gabi Jesus were all wanted by the big guns, but chose City. Bravo left Barca for us. We are at their level, and all it now needs is for Aleix Garcia or one of the other academy lads to break in and become a bona fide superstar to lock down that younger generation.

At 120 mil I don't think we'd get value out of him now, on or off the field. Even if he knocks in 20 goals per year for the next 3 years. 2 years ago, it was a no brainer.

In the cold light of day if he was for sale and we bought him i'd lose my shit, a gamble yeah but can you imagine Messi walking out in a City top, fucking hell that has to appeal to any fan. I even argued the case against the other day but i can't deny that IF he was for sale and he came here i would have the giddy's for the rest of my days on this earth.

Coming to the prem and shitting all over it must appeal to him a bit to a bit as long as the fire is in the belly which i think it is.

I wouldn't worry about the money. If we can afford it (we can) it's not of our concern.

Football is entertainment and excitement. Messi would bring that to a ridiculous level. I'm a season ticket holder and would love to see the greatest player in history playing for Manchester City. Why wouldn't I? Because the fee was big, because his wage was big? Lol I really wouldn't give a shit!

I've seen us waste millions and millions on shit players over the years. I'm not going to worry about us spending a big amount on Lional Messi.

IF he wants to come it's got to be a no-brainer.

The best player in the world running out for us, just think what seems like a couple of years ago we couldn't keep hold of Robert Hopkins and Kevin Langley.

Can't see it happening but if it does I'd guess a pre-contract agreement in January with a summer move. Realistically i think if it doesn't happen by the start of next season what little chance there is will have gone.

No. Save the money and buy 2/3 incredible players with it.
I admire him, but i'd rather challenge our players to be world superstars than spend £200m on just one.
Its that simple for me.
