What is the route exactly from the City Centre to the stadium?
I don't know the exact route or street names but its all on line.

Coming from York for every game I'll try it a couple if times, park at Ashton or whitefield and get the tram. If its quicker I'll continue to use it! If not, I'll wait for the rochdale line to open and try that!

Ashton doesn't open for a couple of years, the line will stop at Droylsden until then.
The Rochdale line passes ''not too far'' from the stadium, with a 25 min walk from the Monsall stop or you'd have to go into town and back out on the rammed tram!

Originally scheduled for the Commonwealth Games of 2002 but put back due to lack of funds.

When work started they promised trial runs in Autumn of 2011 with services commencing in Spring 2012 - that hasn't happened.

I have e-mailed them asking what they will be doing on match days and they have not replied, if they run it like the rest of the network it will be probably be better to get the bus or walk.

When you say soon, how soon do you mean?

Etihad Campus Metrolink station is a future station to be built as part of Phase 3a of the Manchester Metrolink. This station, originally due to be named Sportcity-Stadium then Eastlands City Stadium, will provide a rail link from the city centre to the Etihad Stadium (formerly known as City of Manchester Stadium), the home of Manchester City.

The station is scheduled to open in the summer of 2012[1] (in time for the 2012–13 season, although this could be acclerated to open during the 2011–12 season) and will be located on the East Manchester line outside the stadium near Joe Mercer Way[2].

I thought it was in time for the start of next season but it would be a good idea for them to trial it at some point this season so they have the summer to iron out any problems that occur.

Usually won't really affect me, I use Ashburys to get to the ground. Will be useful if I'm in town before the game though

Last two home games?
(though then they might need the summer to replace the rolling stock)

As long as its 100% ready for next season i'll leave the details to those who know more than i do ;)

If you can use it for free it will change my routine, otherwise I'll be walking. I'm too tight to spend a £1 on the bus so I am definitely not spending £1 or more on the tram, and I suspect it will be more

Still like to see it open though as it will help other people, and improve the area

The tram won't be open till September, it'll mean it's 12 months over due. This is because some numb nuts put the wrong signalling system/cabelling in for the tram that will run on that track! It's cost £m's to put right.
But in answer to your question, yes it will as I'll stop driving & get the tram from Eccles. They plan to have 3-4 double trams waiting at the end of the game to take fans direct to town quickly.
