Anybody get caught up in that chaos today, trams from south of the City not running to the Etihad until after 5pm.

I caught one to Deansgate/Castlefield then waited 20 minutes for one to Piccadilly and walked from there, got completely saturated and have only just dried out.

I detest the bloody METROLINK.

It was running to the ethihad at 4:45pm. I got on it at Sale.

I used it to get to the ground from home. Got to Victoria fine, tram for Ashton came in 2 minutes later. That was 4:20 and it took 20 minutes to get from Victoria to Market Street. It then took another 25 minutes to get to the ground. It's an absolutely fucking second rate service run by second rate managers.

Agree 100%. Double units on all trams for two hour before KO and one hour after this needs to include the Ashton service, it should be the first priority and I just wish City would go public and stick up for the fans that use the service

It's an absolutely garbage system. Every day there is a line out of order somewhere.

I usually drive to the games, but since the Mancunian Way has been down to one lane, I have travelled on the trams from Altrincham.

This season, I have missed two games and two kick off's, more than I have missed in over 50 years of going to games home and away by car, and today I checked on their web page before leaving home and it said the service was good.

It wasn't, as I discovered when I arrived at Altrincham station.

Crap, another kick off missed, but it was better than the time some young employee of theirs watched me buy my ticket before approaching me saying there were no trams running.

I don't know how bad the traffic is to and from the ground along the Mancunian Way, but once that road is back up and running I will not be using Metrolink again.

It takes far too long to get home after the games, it's unreliable, it's uncomfortable, and it's shit. I got stuck at Piccadilly Gardens once for twenty minutes or so because the doors wouldn't shut before we had to get off and wait for the next tram.

A mid-week kick off, I'm getting home after midnight, for a journey of 10 miles.

If Metrolink ran the London underground there would be riots in the streets and questions asked in Parliament.

Funnily enough I overheard someone at a recent home game saying that with the metrolink Manchester is trying to be London and failing miserably, and I agreed 100%.

As a matter of interest what time did it get to the Etihad, and did all the people waiting at each station manage to climb aboard?

I arrived at Timperley at 16.05 to hear an announcement "That due to an earlier tram failure in Manchester all services were delayed".

The tram I got from Timperley terminated at Deansgate/Castlefield and each station I passed was crammed with City Fans, at Brooklands and Sale the indicator boards stated there would be an Etihad tram in 7 minutes.

On arrival at Deansgate/Castlefield the indicator boards did not display an Etihad tram and were showing a Piccadilly tram in 20 minutes time. When this time reduced to 18 minutes up popped an Etihad tram due in 20 minutes, I jumped on the Piccadilly tram as I have no faith in METROLINK.

I arrived at Piccadilly train station at 17.05 and, knowing the Etihad tram would be impossible to get on due to the vast numbers of people wanting it, started walking to the stadium.

The heavens opened and despite being able to get on an Ashton tram at Holt Town I was saturated by the time I took my seat in block 211 just as the game kicked off.

Whilst waiting at Deansgate/Castlefield I personally witnessed City fans getting on the Altrincham tram as they had had enough and were going back to Sale to watch the game in a pub.

I would be interested to know how late people arrived and how many actually never did?

METROLINK = any derogatory adjective you wish to insert.

I rarely use it but find that going through Town on it is a bit of a farce - would be quicker to walk half the time. I once got it to Ashton from the Etihad and it was like the old days when you got on a random bus and it took you all round the houses. Poor poor reflection on our City.

They should have gone the whole hog and used a tunnel system. As we already have a tunnel network which goes as far as Buxton. The land below greater Manchester is perfect for tunneling.

will happen in time I am sure. our city is getting too big for an over ground system.
