Metrolink Season Pass

Might get one when I'm an old man.

Until then I'll cycle to the ground, just like I've been doing since 1967.

How old were you when you started Cycling in 1967 tho ?

for all those travelling with kids - a family ticket allows different permutations with a max of 2 adults and 3 kids to travel - (although 2 adults can travel as long as accompanied by just 1 child)

Family ticket prices

East Didsbury to Etihad Stadium - £6.70 return (Opens in 2 weeks)

Bury to Etihad Stadium - £6.70 return

Piccadilly to Etihad stadium - £4:00 return

Unfortunately if you're at Piccadilly you can only buy family ticket from the machines and not the mobile ticket fellas...... but its no biggy just an additional couple of minutes

Not a bad price at all really, considering the hassle of driving in, cost of parking and the other alternatives of train/bus to piccadilly then tram to the Etihad (I'd personally walk from Piccadilly, but kids and elder relatives would be a struggle).

The SML/East Didsbury line opens tomorrow - is that two weeks you mention a direct journey?

No direct route from Didsbury Im afraid - you have to change at Market Street or Shude Hill and jump on the Rochdale/Droylsden Line. In the new year as mentioned above you will have to change at Pomona as the Droylsden line goes to Eccles temporarily

Didn't realise the Didsbury line was opening so soon - thought it was still weeks away.

Not sure this is right unless they've changed routes. Think you'd be better changing at Cornbrook or Deansgate when the upgrade is on.

Didn't think so, but read your message (I added two and two and came up with a dodgy wap signal!) as perhaps a direct line would be open (on match days!) two weeks after the SML extension opens.

Aye - opens tomorrow morning (5:49am I think).

Thought Cornbrook would be a better option...think the new maps are live on phone apps now.
Becoming a handy system, although travelling on the London underground at the weekend, there's a long way till we have a truly impressive system (and in fairness much of that system is filthy!)

Cheers.

I'd normally drive from Bury, but decided when I heard about the Metrolink tickets to get it.

Means I can have a few bevvies this way on a Matchday.

So it's going to cost me even more money now on beer is it :-P

If you're drinking with me, then inevitably yes mate. ;)

Hehe...

Anyone had their Pass fee taken out of their bank today?

Can't understand why City have taken the £70 today when we're well off the start of the season when the passes will be usable.

Your match day ticket should be enough to get you on public transport, like it is in Germany. Do any of you remember being checked on public transport in Munich or Dortmund?

When we played Schalke I was checked on the train twice, from Dusseldorf to Essen (ICE train) then Essen to Gelsenkirchen (local train). We got bollocked because we were on an Inter City Express, first mate apologised for us all and said we checked at ticket office in Dusseldorf and they said it was okay (they did but they assumed we weren't going on an ICE) I just ignored the situation and the others tried their best to not understand the conductor. We stopped off in Essen to go round the Xmas markets. Match ticket was valid for travel and you could break the journey as long as you were travelling towards or away from the match.

Hoping that they will do a half season pass when the Ashton route opens (scheduled xmas).

What are the rules on travelling with the travelcard. Do you have to be 'travelling to the Etihad' before the game and 'away from the Etihad' after the game'? If this is the rule it has the potential of pissing me off. Say for instance someone travels from the end of any of the other lines, you can go into town before the match and do a bit of shopping, go for a pint/ food etc. You can also stop in town on the way home, but people travelling from Ashton, Audenshaw & Droylesden can't go into town before the game without having to pay from Stadium to town before the game and town to the stadium after the game.

So is this the rule or is it travel anywhere on the network on the day of the game outside peak hours?

I think the wording is, travel from any station on the network to The Etihad. So technically, travelling from say Brooklands to Altrincham before the game would not be allowed. I suspect they won't be that strict though and it will in effect be free travel anywhere on match days, off peak.
