Metrolink to / from Etihad

The Metrolink platform marshall on the westbound platform at Etihad Campus last night certainly got people's attention with his daft voices.
He was alternating between a high pitched "Beaker" from The Muppets and a low pitched Barry White voice. Was hilarious and at least it meant the hordes were following his instructions rather than faffing with their phones.

Not Metrolink.

Had to go by tram yesterday, first time in a few years, as my daughter was working and had car park pass. Arrived at stop in Piccadilly station at 4 o clock. Queued outside of platform for 10 minutes till one tram came and most people on platform got on so allowed onto platform. 3 trams terminated there emptied passengers and carried on empty. Next tram, 2 people managed to get on at my door. Another one arrived and terminated there so carried on empty. Got on next tram at 4.30 and queue was almost at the tracks outside of platform. I hope its another few years till I have to go by tram again. Just one question, where do the trams that terminate there and carry on go to. Just one of those empty trams could have cleared the whole wueue.

They will have been turning round and going back wherever they came from.

The trams pass through Piccadilly and almost immediately run into a bay that allows them to switch tracks and run back into Piccadilly.

Google Maps currently shows a tram doing just that

I went from Piccadilly to the ground on the tram yesterday for the first time ever as it was raining. It was quite difficult to get on the tram as it was rammed and that was 90 mins before kick off. Presumably that gets worse the closer to kick off you get?

Is this why so many people leave early do you think? To get in the queue for trams back to town? How long does that queue take to shift it you leave at full time?

Don't remember people leaving early in such droves when the tram didn't exist, when Coms first opened
