Metrolink to / from Etihad

Brighton trains from nearby stations were free to the stadium for match going fans like in Germany. Just a thought.
Free trams would just make the queues longer.

Except the time the trams take means more people look for taxis back to town, and the taxis block the tracks at Holt Town and that delays the trams...

I'd recommend the buses that park up opposite the south stand. There are usually quite a few there and even with traffic I reckon they'd get you back into Piccadilly quicker than queuing for the tram.
Don’t they go into Piccadilly Gardens rather than the train station? Still a bit of a walk if so, nearly half a mile I reckon.

My next trip up will include an older supporter in my group - who can't walk back to Piccadilly like I normally do - so am considering the tram. Assuming we stay for the final whistle, how long do people typically have to queue to get onto the tram after a match [need to plan ahead to hit our train departure time!]
TIA
I’ve never done it myself as the queue is quite long by the time we get to it after waiting to applaud the players off. We leave out of entrance B and by that time the queue usually ends around the north east of the stadium towards Gibbon Street (which is currently just a dirt track due to the building going on) but shuffles along. If it’s raining you’re not covered or anything. It’s a pig’s ear at the moment as I’m sure people sneek into the queue at different places. Also, if you need the lift I don’t know if there’s a different queue for that or not.

The yellow line is approximately the queue.

Just to add, the end of the line is hard to find sometimes as you have thousands of fans walking anti-clockwise towards Joe Mercer Way and hundreds of fans walking clockwise from the West side of the stadium.

Your yellow line should zig-zag to show what actually happens. Also the queue doesn’t move as quickly as it could due to fucking idiots buggering about with their mobile phones.

Get a taxi.

We’ve used it once and when we got to the covered area we ended up running the zig zag bit because the queue management was shocking.

Also, as we tend to walk towards Joe Mercer Way, I’ve noticed people queuing in the opposite direction but I don’t know if this is another official queue or people trying to find the end of the real queue. I’m glad I’m not in a rush after the game so I understand why some choose to leave early.

there are two queues. One for Ashton and one for town.
