Metrolink to / from Etihad

A quick google would seem to indicate it's more expensive (£25 per event ?) but not twice as much? The cost of going to a gig is getting close to what a nice weekend away somewhere abroad would cost - nuts !
Ok ta for that. I thought matchday parking at the ground was about £12 and if concerts are £25 for the same spot that sounds like twice as much.

Probably not but it’s important these issues keep getting highlighted and he’s the only one who relies on votes to stay in his position and at least puts his face out there. In his defence he’s still restricted by years of under investment which is taking years to unravel. He’s not yet got all the buses under local control (Jan 2025 I think it’s all Bee Network). The buses are a little better in the BN areas in my opinion and are staying at £2 a trip so that’s something.
I wrote directly to Burnham two years ago expressing concern about safety on the Metro on matchday. It has got worse and nothing new has been put in place. The reply I got was dismissive and complacent. I think he’s a fraud and I am not the only one.

The Ashton line (this is also the line of the park and ride) is crazy bad these days.

- Lack of trams after the game with waits of over 30 minutes after a game at times.

- Singles sometimes sent instead of doubles.

- Even longer waits after night games due to no special services.

- Overly full platform and trams due to the above.

I'd quite fancy staying at my mates in Baguley on the evening of the Forest match.

Ideally driving in morning time, going into town with him for beers, waving him off home while I go to the ground & tram back to his after the game. Shouldn't be anything stressful or hard in a simple operation.

I can't guarantee I'd be able to get back to his flat though so,it'll not happen.

I can't be on my own and as such the city is missing out on money that i'd be spending.

Not fit for purpose.
Genuine question, why wouldn't you be able to get back to Wythenshawe?

Td:lr zero faith in public transport and the potential faff involved.

From living in the area until 3 years ago, North Manchester not Wythy, whenever I was out it was always (well seemed like it) touch & go that trams were running after 22.00.

As it was I parked up for 14.30 in my usual parking spot walked into town had a pint & half, food and soft drinks. Said goodbye to the lads and was back after the game at home for just after 23.00.

The last 101 bus runs back to Wythenshawe from Piccadilly Gardens at 23.20, if there are any Mets issues midweek.

So, had the misfortune to be at Stretford tram stop today before Stretford were at home. Can someone confirm when we play at home, all trams run down the Ashton line every 6 minutes and all doubles? Even on Sunday prior to kick off?

All Eccles to Ashton trams are doubles all day when City are at home. Think they’re every 12 minutes. Maybe 15 minutes on a Sunday.

Then there’s others that terminate at Etihad from other places. Think the vast majority are doubles. But you do occasionally see a single.

Fair enough, and this isn’t a City/United thing, but I’ve never seen metrolink Increase frequency on the Ashton line specifically for events at the Etihad Campus. Clearly this was the case from Stretford yesterday as Ive seen this before when Stretford are at home. I also use the tram to commute from Stretford and there is never 1 tram every 6 minutes, even in rush hour. Are there trams every 6 minutes to the Etihad, ever?

The Ashton line has never been six on matchdays- at least a 10-15 minute wait. After the game usually around 20-30 minutes wait time, multiple go past and turn around at city to go back into town.

I think twice this season after the match I have manged to wait less than that back.

All been double other than the one game I can remember.

This is my experience as well. So, metrolink are reacting to increased demand on the Altrincham line but stick to the schedule regardless on the Ashton line? Can’t be a shortage of drivers or units so are there any other limitations? There were close to 80,000 people at the Etihad Campus for the Derby/Paul Mcartney. It’ll be more in a year or two. How are the council allowing CFG/Metrolink to not increase the frequency of the trams whilst demand is nearly double across one line? Did they really get away with telling people to walk and creating a massive neon ‘M’ Sign as a transport strategy!?
