Micah Richards Critique

My only problem with him is he goes down far too often for some one as big as he is, not always getting a foul. This leaves the team a man down, when the game is stopped he's assisted off the pitch to walk to the half way line, again leaving us a man down. Then darts on the pitch, gets my goat every time this happens. He has everything in his locker just needs to cut al this rolling around on the floor out. You never see this with Zabba so let's hope he learns a thing or two from him. Nuffield said

I think that Micah is suffering at the hands of people who make a judgement, are convinced by their own judgement and are not prepared to have a further look, see if the original degfcts have been remedied, and then change their minds.

I am rather bemused by one thing - I think Pee-arse would have Micah in any team, but his input seems to have been totally ignored. He was a mainstay in the U21s. Very odd! There might be something that the goons at the FA are not happy with.

so who's this bloke Nuffield, and why are you quoting him?

The thinking "in the trade" if you like is that Micah Richards is a reactive player whilst the others are positional players.

That's all there is to it about why he isn't getting in any national teams. I also happen to think that it's bollocks.

I can understand that. Perhaps they'll look at Glen Johnson's 'positional play' against Sweeden and take note of coaches like Sven & Mancini who have nurtured him and the top clubs who've attempted to buy him.

Two more words.

Jordan. Henderson.

The only thing I can think of is they don't view him as a 'footballer' and more of an athlete (having seen him develop over the past couple of seasons I disagree). But just watch Johnson vs Italy, he'll be out of position so many times. My rag mates were slagging Milner off vs Ukraine and I pointed out that England need Milner because Johnson's always getting dragged out of position, and surely enough within the next 5 minutes Milner had to cover runs that Johnson hadn't seen and had a more attacking minded player been there in place of Milner England would have got torn apart at times.

May well be due to to Micah's perceived lack of durability.

"Cristalli" said Mancini after the Stoke away game.

Could Micah stand several games in a short time as happens at the Euro's?

Not saying I agree with his omission but this may be the reasoning behind it?

Micah wasn't picked for England due to politics. There's simply no other explanation.

I think that the fact that we haven't seen him play in a few months has tainted some opinions of him. He's the best right back in the league and I say that without hesitation. He's got it all, pace, strength, great technique and the intelligence to back it all up. He wouldn't look out of place at any club in the world. He does occasionally give away needless free kicks but Zabaleta is also notorious for this. The only legitimate criticism that can be leveled at Micah is that he's injury prone but luckily we have the consistently great Zabaleta there as back up.

I don´t agree with "great technique and intelligience" He has certainly improved on these areas but I woulden´t call him a intelligent player, nor a player with great technique. I do agree tho he should atlest be in the England squad

What I really don't understand is that playing at his worst Micah equals the normal rating either Johnson or walker get. He can do what both players do and more, the same applies for Downing and AJ. How the fuck either player is not there is a travesty. As most england managers do, Roy seems to be pandering to the red tops picking red scouse and rags.
