Makes me laugh people talking about Zabs distribution because it is far better than Richards and so is his football brain.Zab is a great squad player and one we should keep hold of but so far this season he has been our best fullback. To be fair to Richards he has been playing better lately but whether he will ever have it upstairs and develop the touch that a topclass player needs I very much doubt.

A point we vehemently disagree on, Tolm.

Boateng is a centre half. Zabaleta can't distribute and has no pace. Richards is the best of the bunch for me - quick and strong, and a threat from corners to boot. Next season I would expect us to bring a top drawer right back in but he'd be great around the squad - if he'll do it of course.

For this year I'd give him the shirt and tell him it's his to lose.

Course, and you were spot on in your blind faith in other certain players with the initials SI and NO were you Dave....

It's difficult to have a rational debate with a monologue Seosa. DD is nothing if not consistent - he digs his ditch and stays in it until his last breath. His prodigious output on here is testament to his feelings of invincible rectitude. Trouble is most of his causes are just fake, he just picks them at random in the first place to get some attention and then just keeps digging. The only genuine Didsbury Dave interest is exhibiting himself as a true sage, who understands the world and isn't deflected by the snares of the media, or other people's knowledgeable views, or players' performances or any kind of evidence - from his one true vision.

Well I am guessing that the man that counts has more faith in Boateng and Kolarov then most of us as he bought them. There is no way Richards will be playing ahead of them unless they screw up enormously and that hasn't happened yet. One thing Mancini won't like is whinging to the press. Richards will be out with the rest of the big mouths unless he apologises big time to Mancini and keeps his mouth shut.

Zabaleta has been much better this year and you are right, he stood off Walcott excellently which meant he didn't get done. I think he's a great utility man. But he doesn't get forward enough and can't cross the ball. Whist Richards's distribution is patchy, his bold runs and dribbles down that right are a threat.

I think he will make it - mental capacity and football ability are not close relatives. Look at our own Mr Tevez and United's Mr Rooney.

I know where you are coming from. My only viewpoint being I don't believe Richards has any natural talent whatsoever.

He is the product of a system which put brawn before brains. He was always going to come through the ranks, certainly in state we were in.

Richards may offer more visible signs of attack than Zab, but it generally without intelligence, purpose or end product (Stoke aside).

His power affords him the opportunity to overcome only so far up the pitch, his lack of positonal sense and aerobic capacity, renders him a liability when he attempts to do so.

I stopped falling for the dying swan routine long time ago. If he's happy to accept a squad role, no probs.

But his ill-advised comments today suggest his head is still in the clouds as to ability.

The problem with Micah is that he is that rare species, a club trained player currently worth his place in the squad. If he moves on along with Ned and the rest we'll have to re-sign Joey Barton or Danny Sturridge to get a full Champs league squad next season!

There is absolutely no way Micah or Boateng should be starting ahead of Pabzab on current form

Doesn't mean he's wrong about Richards. For me he has been the best of the bunch. He offers more going forward than Boateng and Zabs. His positioning sense is not good, but, for attacking fullbacks, this seems to be the last thing to come. I can't think of many 22 year old fullbacks who you'd consider lock down defenders who can offer a threat going forward. The ones who can do both are world class, which Richards is clearly not. He's still the best we've got, and his positioning is improving.

Question is, will he accept being a squad player while he learns? I hope so, but I'm afraid he won't. He might rather be big shit in a small pond.
