Micah Richards the pundit

Micah saying Khuzanov looks out of his depth is a crazy disrespectful thing to say, he had a bad first 10 minutes but has been good since. Probably our stand out defender v Madrid and deBin Dippers

He’s still a better player than that lard arse sick note ever was.

As a player I quite liked him, and around 2010-2012, probably preferred him to Zabaleta.
He also played his part in a number of significant victories as we overcame that huge psychological hurdle of finally winning a trophy.

As a pundit, I absolutely fucking hate him. Kris Akabussi on smack!

As a player he was ok. Played to the best of his ability. His ceiling wasn't very high, but so be it. Not a criticism. As a matter of fact, I'd probably prefer him as a full back on either side, in the current team (I'd like to see Gvardiol moved back to his natural position, although he's done a decent job as full back). But that's as a player.
As a “pundit” he lacked all credibility. Right from the start. It was a classic case of tokenism. And what I mean by that has nothing to do with the colour of his skin. The programmers at Sky thought, “Ok, this Manchester City club came out of nowhere, but they seem to have established themselves for a good few years as a power, so while waiting for them to go away we'd better get ourselves a “representative”, as we have representatives for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham i.e. all the big clubs, you know”. No matter that such thinking exhibited bottomless ignorance (among other things, of who Micah was, and where he'd come from).
Ticked a lot of boxes: laughs a lot — a laugh that is infectious, until it becomes merely irritating — clowns around, doesn't push the City agenda too hard, is prepared to be best mates with Keane (always a good thing for the ratings), doesn't get too “intellectual" about what he's seeing on the pitch, etc.And to go back, very briefly, to what I touched on earlier — it was no bad thing that he was black, but I genuinely think it wasn't a prime consideration for the programmers.

Richards very rarely provides insight. Tbf most pundits are like that they like to say controversial things to make a headline.

Very few add anything to the game I would rather just watch highlights at half time.

Started off a breath of fresh air didn't he!
I think most of us liked him in the beginning!

I just think he's on the box too bloody often , just like spitty and camel gob.....gets tedious watching the same people saying the same thing on multiple channels day in day out....shambles really and.im glad I don't.pay for sly sports and Co.....fucking state of it all.

Micah is pretty dreadful. Talks very loud and does that daft 120 decibel laugh every 45 seconds.

Ian Wright got mad at the Beeb years ago for being made as some sort of jester with no insight. Now at least he can mix a bit of both.

Micah does neither really. It's just plain weird.

He's landed on his feet post retirement, if he can milk the cow for a few decades then fair play to him.

Micah has been helped massively by what the the younger generations want because of TikTok, YouTube etc... The cult of personalities and characters over insight is their preferred choice of entertainment.

They don't have the concentration to sit through full on analysis. Michah fits the bill. Loud, provocative, unpredictable and very clippable for a TikTok or Instagram reel.

He's footballs version of Timmy Mallet and he's coining it in.

Sadly true and I need to concede you are right on all your points unless he ends up guest appearing on the The Archers

I didn’t mind him initially, but he’s ubiquitous ( you’ll have to explain it to him Gary) is he there because he has genuine insight, comedy relief, or the youth voice? Every time I see him he’s either getting rinsed by Henry & Abdo, or laughing uncontrollably
