Micah Richards the pundit

He's not a pundit in the traditional sense. He doesn't offer any tactical insight, but the standard of football punditry in general is very poor when you compare it to other sports. If you had any real knowledge of the game then you'd be on the sidelines. Standing around a screen and moving things around to show snippets might look good, but even then the majority do not understand what they're talking about.

Micah is a personality, and he brings some fun to proceedings. It gives contrast to what can otherwise be overly serious and dull. Got no problem with him.

He can also bring out that side in others as a result, which makes him a positive influence. He can laugh at himself too. He knows he hasn't had the career of others, he knows he doesn't understand the game as well so he just does what he can do best and that's have a laugh.

Henry is probably the best pundit going. The majority are washed up former players living off their names, like spitty and the rat. Henry knows the game, has a deeper understanding of the finer details which separate the good sides from the great and doesn't let any club allegiances get in the way of talking sense.

There's a real shortage of decent pundits in the game, my favourite is humble Pat Nevin. He's not got eye-candy TV looks but is a knowledgeable, intelligent and entertaining ex-pro, who improves any game.

Nedum hasn't got Micah's cheerful personality but he offers more intelligence and tactical insight.

Sadly too many pundits seem to be appointed these days to give greater diversity rather than on genuine merit.

Yes the days of Mark Lawrensen and Alan Hansen were much better.

His performance on the pitch after the game yesterday was shocking. He added nothing. He managed to bring up questions about Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and ‘Sir Alex’. Pep must have thought he was talking to a child. Keane looked embarrassed to be next to him!

Dissing Micah is like moaning about snow at Christmas, he's a happy go lucky multi millionaire with a grounded family, ( incl Rasta dad) . He's done everything and more on and off the pitch we can only dream about and still giggles like a schoolboy and smiles more than the rest of the pundits combined.
If that is a bad thing and not to your taste go watch Murphy, Hinchcliffe, Mcmanaman, Owen on repeat without reaching for the off switch or drugs. Leave the lad to be himself.

My toes curled when he asked Pep if he'd play him or Neville in the inverted fullback role.

Same here. Trying to be 'pally' with Pep on live TV, and Pep looking at him as if to say "who are you?".

Micah seems to be a lovely bloke and may be funny to some, but he just made himself look stupid when he tried to make a joke with Pep yesterday.
