We young'uns with our hatred for Rags - it were never like that in your day eh? Bet you can remember when it was normal to stand on the Stretford End one week and the Kippax the next..
I`ve even praised players like Best,Law and Charlton and nowadays Rooney and Vidic, when all in their prime.I loved Jimmy Greaves,IanSt.John,Peter Lorimer,Derek Dougan,Peter Osgood etc,but I don`t find it embarrassing to say otherwise, why should I ? So therefore why shouldn`t another professional give praise to a fellow footballer, irrespective of which team he plays for.
Big difference between fans doing it and players doing it. If an employee of Nike was publicly endorsing an Adidas product it would be considered unacceptable. Like it or not, modern football is about brand awareness. It can only be beneficial to their brand if even rival players are praising them.
It would be nice if Micah did some of his talking on the pitch. He has been awful since the title season, even when taking into account his injuries. Perhaps if I thought that he was fully focused on fulfilling his own potential as a player I wouldn't have such a problem with it.
