My message to Micah is that you are the best right back in the country. Just get fit and when you get your chance to play make it count.

There's no point in telling him fibs, he's not the best is he ?
you think Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker are better than a fully match fit Micah?
I certainly don't.

Let's clarify things. I like Micah. A fit, focused Micah is a good Prem RB who offers something a bit different through his physical strength and speed. I don't think his football intelligence is that great but his physical attributes compensate to a degree. I'm not a Walker fan and I think Johnson would make a better right sided mid than an RB.

You missed my good natured point though George......best in the country ? Nice lad, good player but not even close to Zabba.........

Zabaleta is in this country.

Discussion over.

Had we had a player to cover Zab, this would have actually made a lot of sense to me. Micah needs games but he just isn't going to get them with us. Had he got a run of games at the scousers then we would have had a better idea if he could still do it at the top level. We could then decide if he was worth a new contract or even if not we would get a decent fee for him if he looked the part.

As it is, he will play maybe the odd FA cup game and at the end of the season we are left with a huge decision. One year left for a player who has managed less than 20 games in the last 2 seasons and during those games, left more questions than answers.

He will want at least a new four year contract and I would imagine at least £50k a week if not more. That's a £10m outlay for someone who may hardly play. However, if we let him go, we will need to pay more to replace him!

Decisions decisions

If he'd managed to stay fit he could have been rotated like Kolarov and Clichy. Full back is a very demanding position and we're incredibly lucky that Zabba's stayed fit for the best part of two seasons. These jokers on here who criticize Micah when he's the best right back in England should seriously reflect on the comparative talents of the two current incumbents together with the likes of Smalling, Jones, Jenkinson, Kelly etc.

You phrased it wrong, you should of said "that you are the best English right back in the country".
should I have made it clear that I wasn't talking about Lahm when he flies in for the occasional match as well?

This loaning system has to stop.

Small clubs like Liverpool and Everton are having success on the pitch because they managed to get expensive top players on loan .

Micah has never let us down at CB.

Impressive there a few years ago Phil but both Bob & Pellers obviously didn't/don't see him as good enough to be a real contender for CB........Switches off too often to be a top 4 CB for me :(
Manuel is animated by a simple but excellent squad philosophy - two players for every position. Micah is a right back and Zabaleta is the other. Players know where they are in that situation and the team shape can be preserved with different personnel. The problem comes when his two players for a particular position are both injured. The choice of Garcia over Micah earlier in the season was just a bad one.

On that at least, we agree.

The importance of intelligent contextual appreciation in understanding written English - amongst other things.
