michael gomez

I'm pretty much as up on it as you to be honest mate I like to watch it and have been a few times used to follow Gomez years ago I was best mates with a lad who's cousin was best mates with him so went round the smaller arenas watching him hatton and farnell always on the same bill but don't claim to be any sort of expert whatsoever! Yeah it was Brodie wasn't it that was the last fight of his career but still a decent scalp for crolla. Decent shout comparing the hattons to the brightwells aswell!!!

Anthony Crolla fought recently on the Hatton undercard. My coach who has been in Anthony Crollas corner during his ABA days went to watch him fight.

Before the fight he was a bit concerned that Crolla was giving away a bit of weight to his opponent. As it turned out Crolla fought well and outclassed his opponent.General feeling is his career is back on track.

I know Gomez really well(as my brother was going out with one of his sisters for around 11 years)
Been part of his up's and mostly downs for years
All i can say is in the late 90's early 00's it was never a dull moment with Gomez!!
He's a big blue too

As for Mat Hatton the way things are going big brother Ricky is going to get him a World title fight. Yet he isnt the best fighter in the UK at the weight. Kell Brock and Jennings would all take out Magic Hatton but this is just what boxing is now all about you can buy yourself a world title ask Amir Khan nowhere near a World title without Warrens money.

didnt they start to film this back in 2007?
I'm assuming they ran out of funding, because I'm sure I saw that trailer last year

The guy has had a mental life.
Born in the back of a car in abject poverty in Ireland
Locked up for killing a man in Princess Street as a teenager, but acquitted on the grounds of self defence
Becoming a very, very useful and exciting boxer (though would have been much better if not for the periods of addiction to various booze/drugs)
His victories over Alex Arthur and the highly rated Dean Pithie were top class. Saw both fights live.
Even as a washed up has-been with substance issues, and a considerably lighter man, he floored Khan. Gomez at his peak would have put him to sleep and ended his career.
My brother met him in the Press Club last year and ended up drinking the night away with him. Said he was sound, if a little bonkers

He used to turn up in Heywood with a few heads in the late 90s as the 'nightclubs' were shutting trying to pick fights with anybody walking out and making their way home. Must have been his version of sparring.
Bit of a prick if you ask me. Put a cousin's mate in hospital (the lad was 17). He's had a bit of a mental life though.

I was about to put, 'what the fuck have they made a film about him for?'. Then I watched the trailer. That looks alright that. Like the reference to Arnie's Gym. Wait for the DVD like, but looks decent.

He has lived the life of a hundred men already.

I will never forget his win against Alex Arthur. On balance, my favourite fight ever.

It was indeed a great fight and I know it is all subjective, but Benn-McClelland will take some beating (pun intended) despite the horrid aftermath.
